West Side Oriental Lazy Boyz [OLBZ] are a predominately Cambodian street gang located in the Chinatown community near downtown Los Angeles near Alpine Park. They are one of the first gangs among the Oriental Family and among the very few Asian gangs with a physical territory in the city of Los Angeles. They also were among the only Asian gangs to have ties with a Blood set.

In the 1980’s immigrant Cambodian refugees sought to find refuge in the United States only to face new problems living in the inner city among street gangs. Similar to how many other American gangs started, because of racial discrimination local residents in LA looked at the new arrivals with hostility. As a result, Cambodian youth coalesced and formed a gang for protection against Hispanic youth. They called themselves the Oriental Lazy Boyz.
The first main conflict they had was with a Hispanic gang called the Osiri Boys located to their west across the 110 Harbor Freeway. Their conflict had been characterized as a war as they were initially targeted because of race. Hispanic gang members would often assault and rob younger innocent Asian youth because they were easy and vulnerable targets being new in Los Angeles.
Cambodian families were traumatized from witnessing violence and genocide from Cambodia’s “Killing Fields,” and Cambodian youth who eventually formed into a street gang were not unfamiliar to violence and brutality. In due time they would respond to the Hispanic groups who had been harassing them, and retaliate against the Osiri Boys (OBS).
Alpine park was the hot spot for the local Asian youth and people came from all over the County to hang out in this neighborhood. The park was one of the very few public places where Asian youth had for their own. This was also the gathering place and hang out spot for many Asian gangs before they became enemies.
The Laziez eventually had conflict with their old childhood friends, the Viet Ching Cool Boys (VCCBS) over disrespect. The VCCBS conflict ended with a peace treaty and the rest of the beefs eventually down.
Different generations and clicks had different alliances. OLB became Bloods when their brother neighborhood Oriental Boyz from South Central battled with the Pueblo Bishop Bloods that ended with an alliance and the sharing of the Pueblo Del Rio Housing Project. Other alliances were with Pinoy Real, Tiny Rascals Gang, Asian Boyz, Korrupted Boyz, Black Dragon, Asian Mafia Assassins and Ninja Clan Assassins.
