What is the difference between a convict and an inmate?

I bet they are separated...If you put all the members from one gang together, then they have too much time to plan, etc.

Why do prisoners feel the need to do violence towards other prisoners? Are there prisoners who claim no gangs, and just keep to themselves, thereby having no trouble with the other inmates?

What's wrong with just being curious? I am fascinated with the street life culture. It is unimaginable to me the violence that happens on a daily basis in America's cities. IN Birmingham, where are the toughest neighborhoods? Where can one go to get a glimpse at gang members on their turf and not be in too much danger? What happens if they catch you there?
