Re: Chicago Mafia or Outfit

Salvatore DeLaurentis at 69 could be a major player, he went to jail in 1991, got out in 2006. In Chicago the make up of the crews and their territory has become more sketchy when people began moving to the suburbs. Jay Albanese in "Contemporary Issues in Organized Crime" (1995) analyzes Chicago and...

Charles Stango is called a member (of the Decavalcante family) working directly for Louis Larasso in "Organized Crime in America: Hearings Before the Committee on the Judiciary" (1983) along with Anthony "Soft Shoe" Dimio and JoJo Ferrara.

Ironically I remember reading an old article that Jack Giacalone was once arrested for selling stolen (I think it was) Christmas trees.

Re: Gaspipe: Confessions of a Mafia Boss

I see your point, the Carlo-Casso combination doesn't seem stable, to say the least, if one is interested in reliable information. Those claims about JFK and so forth are of course ridiculous, on the other hand, as you mentioned, Cassos story could in fact be fascinating.
I save my money for now.

Re: List of New York five families members

Carmine "Johnny Lamps" Saglimbene got an 10 year sentence in 1971-72 and he is/was an NY OC figure. Thats about all that can be confirmed.
I don't know where the poster got his information from though.

Re: List of New York five families members

Thanks for the input, thewestside. My argument with Saverio Aiello was that since the report is from 1978 he was alive at that time, although I don't know if one can draw that assumption. The report could be describing past conditions.

Re: List of New York five families members

thewestside, Here's a few Genovese members/associates I don't really know what to make of, perhaps you got some thoughts. CARMINE SAGLIMBENE aka Johnny Lamps, a poster a few years back claimed he was made Vincent Rizzo (mentioned in Joe Coffeys book as "made by Vito Genovese himself") Salvatore Bell...

Re: List of New York five families members

Anthony CONIGLIARO (born about 1938) and Alex (born 1962) are two different individuals (probably related), I seen both identified as made members. Felix Tranghese is listed as as a soldier on page 391, can't find it online however. Also listed as a soldier is Mario Fiore along with the Scibelli bro...

Very nice lists, here's some additions to the Genovese family: John Bologna http://www.geocities.com/OrganizedCrimeSyndicates/springfield-mass.html Paul Rogina "On March 24, 1999, I conducted a physical and photographic surveillance in and around the Soho Grand Hotel (hereinafter "Hotel") located at...

Re: Genevose Family

I agree with thewestside. The Genovese family has had some smart leaders, such as Charlie Luciano, Phil Lombardo, Jerry Catena and Vincent Gigante contributing to thier success, even if the gambinos also had smart bosses in Carlo Gambino and Paul Castellano but they seem to have (in some aspects) pr...

The Patriarca family also has a smaller number of Sicilian born made members, such as
Nino Cucinotta, Vito DeLuca, Biagio DiGiacomo, Nicolo Leonardi, and I think Antonio Spagnolo.
