Are you sure those gangs started out as football teams?

I recall ERS starting out as stoners/bikers. CRS, too. Drifters were party/dance club types before they became cholos.

What is the origin of the name BLOODSTONE?

It was the name of an RnB/funk group in the 70's. Plus, any word with "stone" in it, sounds cool.

Yeah, it has some errors, Notably a alot of Asian gangs are missing, like BNG and Jefrox Boys. It has every two bit stoner gang but no punker gangs like Suicicidal or LADS, (both of which were active in '82).

A doc. from 1977 about life in the Chino Juvenile Facility. Gangs aren't a major focus of the film but many of the inmates are obviously gang members and it shows the Latino, black and white thug styles of that period. It's an interesting time capsule of that era. It's available at Hulu.com.

The people who say "white pride" are generally racists. That's my only problem with "white pride". Non racist whites take pride in their ethnic groups - Irish, Italian,Polish etc. - or even their region/city. But not their "race".

I saw a doc. about punkers and skinheads in the UK from the early '80's. Some of the skinheads had serious tatoos - on the face, forehead. They definately had a tatoo tradition independent of cholos.

Pretty much they adpot a lot of the Moorish Science Temple writing into their gang literature. You'll even see some of the members carrying Identity Cards from the Moorish Temple.
