Anyone know if Virginia Street Locos is still active, or did their area get taken over by MS13?
I drove through their hood and the area still looks hoodish even though Hollywood is getting gentrified.

Re: Venton Avenue Hustlers
“Originally” what was the turf for Venton Avenue Hustlers. What do you mean what was the turf for the Venton Avenue Hustlers? As you know, that's part of the Palms area, and at that time, no gang officially claimed the Palms. The Palms was just an "unincorporated" area so to speak, not claimed by a...

Is Clanton still active on the Eastside of South Central? Also i was driving on western and 14th street and seen fresh clanton tags, wasn't that their old barrio MC14?.. sorry couldn't take a photo. They’re still active on the East Side (original hood), but their hood is small and dying out. I’m su...

Re: Mid City Stoners (MCS) near Western, Pico to Washington
I lived and grew up all around Mid Town, went to JB and Fairfax and LA High in the 80s... MCS/MCLC didnt really put the cholo style on it until the late 80s, but when they would hit up they used the 13 for marijuana from when they started in the early 80s... The exact turf boundaries of what is now...

Is Atwater Village still active with gangs? I was there a few weeks back and it was heavily gentrified. FMA 13 — gang that never had a hood?
In Downtown yesterday I saw a “W/S FMA” tag... had forgotten all about them. I used to see their tags in the 90’s around Mid City. I remember seeing the tag a few months ago near USC too. I think someone here once said they tried establishing their own territory in the territory of Mansfield Gangste...

Re: 38th Street Gang
38th Street is one of the most active Low Bottoms gangs. I’d argue that of all the Low Bottoms gangs with street numbers in their name (22nd, 29th, 36th, 39th, 41st, etc) that 36th is the most active. 41st is probably second most active in that area.

They started in the late 70’s near Kingsley and Pico. They were Mid City Lil Criminals. They kicked it with C14 and together would hit up MC14. In the 80’s they became MCS and started kicking it at Queen Anne’s Park and started up Crenshaw Boys clika. Then in the 90’s they started Hobart Boys off V...

They just try to come up with disrespectful names that either has alliterates or rhymes with the name of the hood they’re dissing.
The first syllable in “Family” is exactly the same as “faggots.” And “Sissies” both rhymes and alliterates with “Sixties.”

Hoods or gangs known by a diff name back in time... For example; Little River Valley = Frog Town Little Mansions = Crow Village Los Pozos = Canta Ranas Frog Town Riverside and Frog Town Rifa... I’m told Riverside was part of their name first and then they changed the R to mean “Rifa”? Michigan Chic...

Very interesting info. Yup, one thing that caught my attention was, this hood started in the 70s, I was suprised, I always assumed they were a mid to late 80's gang. And another thing was i also thought they broke off of "Avenues", but they didn't, they came up on their own. Also I had a typo in th...

Re: School Yard Crips as Sharp Dancers
I’ve always wondered about the history of SYC — who started it, when did it start, and how they got their name. I grew up on Longwood Ave in the 90’s, just a few houses down from 17th street. Basically the ground zero of SYC turf. I know the earliest mention of SYC in the newspapers was in like 81 o...

Re: Are Fruit Town Brims officially defunct?
I wouldn't say a hood is "defunct" just for not kicking it in their original territory, if they're still active. They're just a nomad gang or hoodless gang. Defunct is when no one is active. Everyone either doesn't bang, in jail, or dead. Their "hood" or neighborhood is defunct because they all got...

Definitely dying out. I don’t see any of their graffiti, and their neighborhood is more gentrified & whiter. Black people still live in the neighborhood though. I did see a Black guy with neck tattoos walking in that area a couple days ago and I wondered if he was BYGC.
