Not that anybody cares, but I'll tell a little story... When I was in the Marines I got hung up at LAX before going overseas (1993).. My 2 friends and I (white dude/black dude) got a motel room at Century/Hawthorne to wait out the time until our plane left. We walked up the street at night to get something to eat and made it about 2 blocks before Inglewood PD stopped us and told us we white dudes were out of our mind. Before the cops could finish their lecture a car crashed through the front window of a store across the street and they were off chasing.. We managed back to the motel..

A year later I was back at LAX on my way home and had another layover.. Same black dude and different friend (Mexican) were in the same jam. Mexican dude's family came down to pick him up and we decided to go for food.. Somehow ended up near Century/Hawthorne again and the van broke down... Didn't take long for me (the one white dude in that zip code) to attract attention of locals but I managed to catch a cab back to LAX before gettng F'd up.. Cabbie asked me what the hell was wrong with me being there..lol Never forgot that little experience. I'm a far from a puss, and not at all worried up front when it's one on one or close to it ... But that wasn't about to be the case there and then. I wouldn't recommend SC, Compton, Inglewood, or anyplace close to somebody who isn't from there, regardless of their race.

I totally agree. You're far more likely to hear people make excuses for it though than you are to find people who recognize it for what it is. That wasn't necessarily my point in relating the story, but it's a valid and relevent one.

I just saw a show called bowling for columbine on hbo and these two white guys were walking right down there in SOuth Central and on Normandie and were talking about how the media portrays these places as danger zone or some other shit but to me it looked just like anywhere else in L.A and they didn't get checked or any of that bullshet.

So go check it out for yourself.. I'm white, and I've been to Inglewood and SC. Didn't find anything cool about it, one bit. It's got it's thing going on, and if you're not from there you don't belong there. No, not everybody who walks down the street is gonna get checked or jacked. But I guarantee the chances are a lot better of it happening there than it is whereever you're sitting at typing the questions.. .

I am black and when my uncle took me by the gardens and and the jordan downs, well i didnt actually go in these pjs just drove by em on imperial but anyway i could see inside of em and I would not feel safe goin in their. Funny thing was my uncle took mme to the watts towers and we got out and there were some white people sightseeing there. I wonder how they managed makin it into the center of watts lol

It's not a fucking war zone for crying out loud. Black people have alot lower chance of commiting hate crime (assualt/murder because of racial prejudice) than white people.

Compton on the other hand has only 954 (1%) whites and 189 Asians living in it so it's probably only safe if your black.

Boyle Heights does not cover all of East LA. The jews were just visiting that particular section. Here's an article.

i remember in 1994 when i went in watts 2 see the watts towers i asked some info 2 some black guys near the 107st and they very kind answer me ..they help me to find the simon rodia art center that is near closer the watts towers
very strange about that ..but you know im living in italy i don't know bout the real life in s central maybe i was just lucky

and secondly, most of yall dont even live in that area...
how you gonna jugde. most white people there are usually thought to be mexican. not too much is said, when there is a white person. i doubt it would be a giant problem. in compton, there are alot of white lookin mexicans, no one really says anything. its not that big a deal. its just like walkin down a not so good street... its not that dangerous, but maybe just a lil more.

but you can teell a mexican from a white person by their accent.
