Well, I don't think so, coz LADS was a punk crew, not a sui crew. But u never know...

That's what the S/S stands for. ^

"According to the Nuremberg Trials, as well as many war crimes investigations and trials conducted since then, the SS was responsible for the vast majority of war crimes perpetrated under the Nazi regime. In particular, it was the primary organization which carried out the Holocaust.[3] As a part of its race-centric functions, the SS oversaw the isolation and displacement of Jews from the populations of the conquered territories, seizing their assets and transporting them to concentration camps and ghettos where they would be used as slave labor (pending extermination) or immediately killed."

Oh really? That was the first thing that came to my mind, but I thought since they were punks that it meant something different. So the SS LADS were a nazi gang?

I may be mistaken but I think LADS has always been a skins set and even if they started punk, most hardcore punk crews/gangs in So. Cal that have stood the test of time turned skins. Any down ass white boy who does time, punk or not, comes out with a completely different ideology. Especially if he put in work in the thick of shit inside. Being incarcerated (in cali) not only cultivates more of a criminal mentality than that which got you there, but also racism due to the race based politics.
Woods and Surenos push that race based hate inside to the max, and it fucks with their own people's minds. I knew a Mexican dude from E/S Buena Park, cool as could be with everyone of every race, charismatic kinda guy ya know. He went upstate for 16months and next time i saw him it was N*gger this and Ch*nk that, and I'm asian. It was like he didn't even make the connection but had just been condition to be hateful towards other races in there.

That's interesting. I heared the LADS started up as a punk crew and then it got a split. Some went peace punks (whatever that means) and some became SS LADS. So u could say it was a political split between the "have done time" fraction and the non-criminal fraction? And is it true that the SS LADS turned into PEN1? Or were that different clicks? THX!

Found this on the web:

"(...) a few S.S LADS may have gone into PEN1. LADS i.e L.A Death Squad started in Hollywood in the early 80's as a punk gang that fought with Suicidals from Venice etc. Then a few years down the road a guy called Gangster started the South Side LADS which were Lakewood, Long Beach, O.C area guys. Eventually they became pretty much a full fledge gang selling drugs, home invasion the whole nine yards. They were mixed white and Mexican. Some of the white guys I hear went into PEN1 others stayed and S.S LADS became E.S Lakewood (LADS) X3. If you look at some of the old post on this site there's some info on PEN1 and Scott Miller and LADS etc. A few of the punk rock gangs became full on varrio gangs and a lot of the white boys became A.B, NLR or PEN1 and some were in Mexican gangs. Some of the punk gangs were the Family, FFF, Suicidals, the League, LMP, Burbank Punks, PEN1, South Bay Skins and others. Fenders Ballroom in Long Beach was like a weekly UFC fight in the 80's the gangs would all gather some cliqued together others beat the shit out of each other. Towards the end SOS got involved and people were getting stabbed and shot and the place got closed down."

So the S/S stands for South Side, not Schutzstaffel?

I always thought it stood for South Side . I ran into many LA Death Squad peeps in '83, '84 and '85. I always thought of them as a skin head / heavy metal crew. I stayed away from them most of the time. I think some where real racist but I think I remember LADS having a couple Mexicans too.

As far as I know both clics were mixer clics. In the end of the SS LADS the Mexican members were absorbed by some chicano gang and the white members became PEN1.
