Re: Shrimp Boy and Senator arrested
i always thought that Leland Yee was a good guy that felt the criminal justice system was unfair to juveniles. Sad to hear he got caught up, well see if he is guilty. Maybe he made some enemies. Politics is a contact sport.
The public corruption case against state Sen. Leland Yee reads like a bad crime novel with off-the-books firearms deals made in parking lots and confessions whispered in a booth at a karaoke bar.
lRelated State Sen. Leland Yee
All told, 26 people were identified as having violated federal statutes in the complaint. It was unclear how many were in custody. They were accused of participating in a free-ranging criminal ring that dabbled in a spectrum of activity, from illegal marijuana "grows" to a scheme to transport stolen liquor to China.
An affidavit filed in federal court in San Francisco by FBI Special Agent Emmanuel V. Pascua said there was probable cause to believe that Yee had conducted wire fraud and had engaged in a conspiracy to deal firearms without a license and illegally import firearms.

Former state Sen. Leland Yee, the San Francisco Democrat, plead guilty to federal charges and admitted to racketeering, involving public corruption, promises of gun-running and other crimes.

Raymond "Shrimp Boy" Chow
On Tuesday, after a sometimes flamboyant two-month trial in a U.S. District Court, jurors were asked to decide the fate of Raymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow, the alleged Chinatown mobster charged with ordering two murders, money laundering, extortion, and trafficking in drugs, counterfeit cigarettes, and liquor.
This morning, the verdict came in: guilty of two conspiracies to murder and racketeering.
The 56-year-old Chow became the dragonhead of the Chee Kung Tong association just six months after Allen Leung, the previous leader, was murdered in his Chinatown office in 2006. Chow was accused of ordering the hit and, according to the prosecution, also ordered another hit against a member of the Hop Sing Tong street gang, who was murdered, along with his wife, in Mendocino County.
Chow was indicted in 2014 after an undercover federal probe into alleged corruption in Chinatown — the same probe that resulted in former state. Sen. Leland Yee pleading guilty to accepting bribes in exchange for political favors and illegal gun-smuggling. (Mayor Lee, whose third inauguration is happening this morning, was also accused of accepting bribes.)
As ABC 7 reports, during the trial’s closing arguments, attorney Tony Serra reiterated that tong associates and an undercover FBI agent who testified against Chow weren’t credible.
The jury apparently disagreed.
