I'll Never Forget Seeing ECC's Coming To My School (Other Stories Also)

Unread post by LionTheOracle » November 28th, 2017, 1:49 pm

I was in 10th grade I believe this was like 2003 something like that.... At George Washington High....
Thing about that school, you saw pretty much every neighborhood school except the Rollin 100's enrolled as students there...
Only time I saw UG's or Rollin 100's were full grown adults...
I remember seeing a young 9th Grader Menlo Neighborhood Crip.. I spoke to him a couple times, and he seemed irritated at one point with someone confronting him but I'm not sure who it was. He looked like a lil Gee though...

AJ From 60's, we around the same age... Anyone know him? He was a rich kid man... He had a custom made suede letterman jacket that said Neighorhood across it. He used to wear expensive Romeo boots to school... We had a run in but we became cool, or rather as cool as necessary. He didn't really mind me because I wasn't from NHC so he could only acknowledge my existence so much lol...

My bestfriend was from Fruit Town Brims at the time, although I was claiming Harlem Crip which was funny. But he knew I just pushed it because my uncle was an OG. I wasn't a real gangabanger but if someone pressed me I would say I was from Harlem Crip just because that was my ppl's. I had only been to the hood a few times or only to go to family gatherings and so on but I never lived near the 30's.
So me and D were super tight, and we ran a click together. He would tell me his run in's with a Harlem Crip named Baby Blue Devil, and how he punched him in the stomach one day just for being from FTB. I loved D like a brother and I hated to hear those stories. Later his cousin joined him at the school and he was also from FTB, but his cousin looked rough as hell lol. He looked so rough they banged on him the first day he checked in.... He told him "shit I'm a blood", but I'm guessing they didn't press him too hard but I was willing to have his back because I loved D and his family was my family.

But the day the East Coast Crips checked in to the school was a sight to behold! We weren't really afraid because 1 they were crips, and 2 they were crips, but they were very flamboyant about their gang. One guy had to make sure he had his ECC letter belt with the metal buckles on there with 76 and other number buckles there to make everyone knew he was 76 ECC. I just was sort of shocked at how encouraged they were. I'm not sure why they were doing this honestly... It was a Crip school like 100%, so I was confused why 3 ECC's came up to the school walking around like hey I'm ECC what yall gotta say about that????

I'm thinking.... This is a NHC school, why are you doing that? Everyone here is cool, now if you go outside the school gates you can go deal with the 107' Hoovers because those dudes are vicious as hell, and the ETG's down the street are also vicious as hell...
There so many gangs going to Washhouse, and it was like Disneyland for gangbangin.... So many stories, and I mean I fought every single day... I can't remember a day that I didn't fight someone. It got me to the point that I woke up looking for a fight at school, and I was one of the smallest guys at the school, and I'm far from a violent person but very strategic.

107 Hoovers were scary as hell, they followed us down streets, they robbed a friend fro his averix leather coat, they just weren't friendly. But still I never was afraid of walking through their hood, it's just some dudes from that set brains weren't screwed on straight. But I had a lot fun hanging out on their blocks, never felt like I was in life danger.
I think I felt a little more uncomfortable in the Budlongs hood because they didn't really have control of it. Anything could go down.

Being a kid you have a different perspective, and you could take more chances so allowed you to sort get into the hive and see what it was like without risking your life as badly as a full grown adult. And I had that chance with almost every hood around WHS. Denver Lanes made me feel a bit uncomfortable, but I never respected someones hood like i did the Hoovers. They simply didn't play around with their territory. I felt like body snatchers were all around, and even their Tiny Gee's were always scary. I was a fighter so i was ready, but I had the feeling it wouldn't be a head up.

I did a summer a Brett Harte middle school, and it was lit for a middle school. It felt like prison for kids because being on the playground meant you might have to fight if you haven't already. And don't dare look weak because you were food. Either way I had great times in the hood living on 101st n Vermont, but it was really grimey and you couldnt be weak because they were always looking for food and if you looked like food you would get eaten.

Never saw a Denver Lane, In fact a friend and I laughed at the memory that at Washington High being a blood was like an urban myth. It was so far off the radar you heard about them you knew they were out there but to reality of actually seeing a blood face to face was very much unreal. My friend devaughdrick being a Brim from FTB was really the only example I knew of and we almost separated the idea of being a Brim from being a blood.

I do remember how the Grape Streets had a basketball game at WHS and they were rowdy. Like banging and trying to see who wanted problems. But honestly we didn't think of them as an issue because they were so far but them being from the East Side classic competition.

I remember a guy came to school and it was to my P.E. class where several classes had P.E. at one time. There was a guy wearing red rags and he spent his time in a corner adjusting them daring anyone to run up on him.

I honestly didn't think to myself that he was a blood. Several Crips came up to us and asked if we bang. My boy who nick name was Shystie said naw but this Crip whats up? Dude from PJ Watts Crip said go bang on him for us. So Shystie did. Dude said he was from PJ's and it raised a red alarm immediately because he was PJ's and he didnt know him. The blood exclaimed that "I wear what I wana wear" Immediately he went over there to square up with him, and it was broken up by security. The blood was escorted out.

Later it was explained to us that he was from Inglewood Family and that they would be back to finish the problem. That never actually happened but it left a mark on us reminding us that somewhere Bloods do exist.

Funny thing is I ended up doing two years at Inglewood High later.

Funny story is the story was flipped my first day at Inglewood High. I was wearing an all baby blue suede sweat suit with baby blue averix's. I had to represent my Crip foundation lol. And of course the IFG's came up and surrounded me on the first day. That was stupid of me. Being young....

They never approached me and if they did I would have had to. You had to be a Crip at WHS, and you better had been an ally of NHC's. I used to walk around with this tasmanian devil plush toy tied to my backpack. I took a marker and wrote Rollin 30s and OHC and etc all over so people would see it. A cute girl asked to wear for a day because thats how girls are. She brought it back to me and told me that she showed it to the 60's. I asked her what they said and not much.

ECC's showcase was just strange. As I mentioned no one was scared be we were at the least taken by their enthusiasm. I never put my thumbs all in someone face like I wanted them to say something, but if someone asked I rep'd for my family. But none the less I wasn't from OHC nor did i hang out in their hood a lot.

I also remember the war with the 40's. Those were dark days. One OHC was killed who was tight with my uncle but I cant remember his name. It was very early 00's.

These gangs didn't have a lot of younger members its just the way it was in the early 00's...
The UG's started a get down or lay down policy when I was in summer school. Keep in mind WHS is a track school so my summer school also meant there could be a regular semester for others. This was a short period where the next track hadn't started yet and we were all summer school attendees.
I remember hearing stories everyday that at least one of my friends were assaulted by the UG's while walking home for refusing to be from UG's.

There were a few adult UG's who jumped the gate to come smoke weed on the football field and chill with the young gang members. I found myself hanging with them a few times. I lived on 101st so I remember walking pass one of them and he yelled out to me and I showed loved back. That was one of the very few times I encountered UG's. They simply didn't have the presence that other NHC's had.

The Budlongs also I only saw one smack a latino guy he was walking with really hard in front of us after school while we were at the taco stand. We didn't get it so we all starred confused. The Budlong yelled "ANYONE GOT SOMETHING TO SAY???" Me with fries in my hand, responded "Hell naw!" we didn't get it nor did we care.

107 hoovers were in the area for sure. We were followed once when we ditched school with just one other friend Bear. He was a big guy but would scare before any of us. Now that I think back, he was more logical than any of us.

One day I was walking with 55 NHC's during P.E. and they saw some Hoover across the street. They threw up 55 at them, and I dont think they understood they were shaking up the nest. As about 6 Hoovers crossed the street the 55's thought it was time to leave the area regardless of the 10 foot steel prison gate.

These old hoods are nothing like they were in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. These hoods around WHS were either quite, or washed up and full of drug addicts. The 80's damage was still felt well into the early 00's.

We're both blessed to see our ages. My conscience is still affected by friends who didn't may it to 20 as a result of this epidemic.
