I don’t know how deep these Compton sets are but I do know all gang membership numbers are very tricky.

It all depends on what members you count. Counting the number of people that ever got put on that hood that are still alive and breathing will get you big numbers. That would include those that are serving hard time in prison, those that moved out of town but still claim that hood, those that are older and retired from the life and of course active members in the hood.

When you just count the membership of fully active members living in the hood then the inflated estimated number should be greatly reduced, especially modern day.
