Surely anybody can get into 18ST but you still have to be initiated and go thru the 18 seconds. From witnessing one jump in, I can say that it was way more than 18 seconds, and that LOCO ended up with 2 black eyes, busted left ear, busted mouth, broken nose, lumps all over his head, and a broken rib. He still stood up and shaked everybodys hand welcoming him in to the gang. I also witnessed this same VATO go up against a croud from Diamond ST all solo and stood his ground, took a filero to his stomach, ended up being saved by LAPD turning the corner. The Tiny Winos click held up its varrio thru most of the early 80's, and their Tiny Vets started the North Side in the 818 Valley in the mid-late 70's. So truly just about anyone can join 18ST but they still hold their place as a HARDCORE gang, with a sprinkle of Black Homeboys.

What happens to a guy like this in jail? I remember back in the late 80s 18 Street had a dude named Coco...a big dude. I never met him him, but the homies who were from Rockwood told me about him. Come to think it about, thats been over 20 years so he could have been from RSL...i dont remember now.
