Six people are in stable condition today after suffering gunshot wounds in a gang-related shooting in Highland Park, police said.

The victims were shot Saturday about 9:40 p.m. after two suspects in a car opened fire on a house party near Figueroa Street and Avenue 55, Los Angeles Police Officer Gregory Baek said. At least one of the victims was female.

Some of the victims are members of the Dogtown gang, and police believe the shooters may be connected to the Avenues gang, Baek said.

No arrests have been made.

What would Dog Town be doing having a party on Avenue 55th & Fig. A bit out of their neighborhood especially since they are rivals with Avenues.

Ey "gringo" you taking my opinion on some shit that doesnt matter, Actually, I can careless about DXT because honestly, I havent seen one outside there projects..........so that isnt a big deal....Also, btw, you said, the MAP DOESNT even SHOW you guys existence so get mad at us. Dog Town is south of the map in the William Mead projects about 2 miles south.

Yeah I knew that wasnt adding up to me, DXT is by union station so thats no where near there.......the map seems correct?

dogtown has a hood right there in figuroa probably right by whereever that party was, its called monte vista, theyve been going at it with avenues for a minute.

Yeah DT been in HLP for quite awhile, they were always there strongest over there on Monte Vista at the "Pink Apartments", a pretty hot dope spot. The NELA DT's were always small but have held their own for quite awhile. In 92 when the politics hit the streets DT absorbed SUR13 Monte Vista, and also BFH (Boys From the Hood), and pretty much started putting in more work than before.

On September 22, 2009 Los Angeles City Councilman Ed Reyes said that the recent Avenues bust had removed a lethal threat from the streets. Last night six persons were shot and wounded in what is being described by the LAPD as a gang-related attack by Avenues members against their rival and perhaps the oldest gang in Los Angeles, DOG TOWN RIFA, a neighborhood founded circa 1890 by Irish and Mexican immigrants. Two weeks ago federal law enforcement officials along with the LAPD..

DOG TOWN SANTOS, LOCOS, PEQUEñOS, MIDGETS and DUKES, all have had members living in N.E.L.A. The PEQUEñOS were hard core in the 1970s, in fact most of the veteranos from the projects made a home for themselves in those grounds starting back in the late 1960s and continued through the 1970s. At times, there's been more DxT Homeboys in NELA than in the PJs. Each and every one of those cliques was born in the Pjs, but NELA is our second home. The Homies go to Nightingale and Franklin since way back. As to why DxT has now grown big in numbers? DxT is still very traditional. It's like you either grow up in the neighborhood, you been around for a while and get sponsored, or you're from the many "generational" familias of Dog Towners who been around for decades. You don't just move in one year and get jumped in the next. And as to why you don't see that many DxT placasos around in NExLA? That has to do with respect for the neighborhood. If you go to the Pjs it's the same thing. You wont find strike ups on the brick city walls of the pjs.. You will find them on the surrounding walls, but not on the pj walls themselves. You can go back in time and it has been the same from old ~> "Respect the Barrio"

Contrary to popular belief.. “DOG TOWN” did not get their name off of the Dog Pound on Ann Street.. The DOG TOWN neighborhood name goes back in time.. Way way back in time before there was even a city dog pound! They built the city dog pound there because of the large number of perros roaming around there. Dogs with no owners.. roaming around the rail road tracks ~> Those trains tracks that crossed the river
~> The L.A. River.. BEFORE THERE WAS EVEN A LEEVE! Before there was even an East Side or West Side.. Before there was even a Nnorth East Side!

The neighborhood got its old (placaso) moniker because of the many wild perros that hanged around the rail yards. Those wild perros hanged around there because the trains dumped their spoiled cargoes around the LA River before they reached their LA warehouse destination.

The City Dog Pound got built because of that!

DOG TOWN pre-dates ~> the City Dog Pound!
