East Side Trece or 13th Street?

On the eastside on 27th, 28th and 29th Street, is a small neighborhood called East Side 13, but I have seen them write 13th Street, and wondering why?

They used to write 13st in the early 90's, not sure why tho. Never ran into anyone from there.

They still write 13th Street but are not anywhere near 13th Street.

Well, that's the problem with naming a gang after a street. If and when the gang gets big a starts to spread out, you end up with people claiming a street that's no where near them.

Im guessing its called es13 cause there on the es and the 13 is la eme not a 13th street but la eme street idk im just guessing. Theres a cholo rap group called brownside and those members r from there but becareful cause that music is sickning. Another thing one of those members in his songs says he lives on 49th st & hoover but thats 18th st hood so im confused on that one anyone know

They had some little homies doing some cosas south of the borderline, but they recently just got rolled up

It is not. ..They just write 13th st because they are saying this is their street

13th street is not in their area. There has to be a story connected to this.

I used to ask the same question. But I’ve come to realize that it’s not about an actual literal street called 13th Street. It’s more like a “fictional” and “cool” sounding way to say the name. Almost like “East Side Crazy Street”, “East Side Gangster Street” etc etc. there’s no actual street , but it sounded good. Which is probably why they mostly just write ES13 but occasionally put ES 13 “St”
