let me tell you a little old forgotten story about a forgotten "strange" clique name
one not found on any roll call, much less recorded in any varrio book

but once upon a time there were these "Locos" in San pedro
on Santa Cruz Street
right before the RSP SCST clique came up

they were known as the "GUAYABOS" from la Santa Cruz

Guayabos was a name given to them by La Raza from SP on account of their wearing Guayaberas
a certain type of casual shirts

but also because one of their original heads was called El Guayabo
and by default ~> all his homeboys were called GUAYABOS
a classic example of how one vato influences how the rest of the clique is viewed,
or how they acquire their street name

these Guayabos rumbled versus the Dodge City 2nd Street Mob once
but i doubt the Mob knew who hit them
and that's because los Guayabos were backing up the SP Locos
so the Mob thought that they were all from the same crowd

I was there that night, so i know

besides that, El Guayabo is my ole lady's uncle

i knew him before i ever met my ole lady

Los Guayabos never ever made it into any varrio's ranks as a clique
But from their ranks came many down vatos who today would deny that they ever belonged to them
Especially since they jumped in with the Big Ranch

From that Santa Cruz street, you have known names like Cutzo, Bullet, Cepillin, Cancer, Weasel, Casper, Mando, Joker, Lil; Hapo, Negro, Seko and a ton of others

It's a trip how so many crazy locos start out before they go on to the big leagues

i remember the first couple of vatos I did time with from Clara St Locos ... did not claim Cudahy 13 yet

this was mid 80s ... I think by the late 80s or early 90s they - Clara St became a clique off C-13
