Slausons grafitti with swastika

Many neighborhoods can not maintain themselves with the level of competition. They may get pulled into other neighborhoods or they just fade out. Only discuss those areas from LOS ANGELES that are gone.

I don't know what the swastika meant to them, but they used it in their graffiti.

It may have been used because it has some resemblance to an S.I think back in the days there were some black and Hispanic gangs that struck up swastikas for shock value.Gangs always wants to look intimidating and they want to seem like the worse of worse. There are and have been gangs called Devils , Satans ect. That may not seem so bad now but back in the days those names were pretty shocking and menacing , and that was the whole point. This is just a theory. Ive only seen a couple strike ups like that from a non white gang.In LA and Chicago , the one in LA was a pic from a Hispanic hood in in the 70s (forgot who it was) and apparently the one in Chicago is still used except its supposed to be a reverse swastika.

Several Chicano gangs used swastikas back in the 70's, but Dog Town probably used It the most. They often hit up their initials with a swastika between the D and T. It had no Nazi connection.
Black and Puerto Rican gangs in NY used swastikas as well as iron crosses and stormtrooper helmets in their graffiti and gang jackets. In the 70's, the image of white supremacists was still the KKK not neo-nazis or Aryan types. At most a swastika was viewed as anti-Semitic back then. Mostly it was just a rebellion thing.
