Columbus street crips
Now some, not most of the latino gangs throught Los Angeles, California hardly ever bring up their past if its associated with black history, you have those typical kids who say "haha, you're hood was a tinto/black hood first, not raza" etc, well this was one of them, Columbus Street 13 in the San Fernando Valley never started off as a "sureno" hood, in fact a small group of blacks used to occupy this neighborhood back in the 1980's, as there numbers came up, they started the Columbus Street Crips, it was very short lived, and this crip gang is no longer active today, they were a racially mixed gang, it not only had black crips, but latino crips.
As we pushed into the early 1990's, the Mexican Mafia came more into play and became a more dominate factor, and they wanted structure, not only in the streets, but behind the walls, they specifically wanted the latino's who banged "crip" or "blood" to drop that car, and flip to "sureno", so it happened, all of the latino's who used to claim "Columbus Street Crip" dropped the crip car and flipped to the sureno car, all that remained were the blacks who would continue to claim "Columbus Street Crips", but as their numbers dwindled in the latino dominated San Fernando Valley, there presence became less and less known, to the point were they just stopped claiming crip in general and went off to live their own personal lives, and thats why today their known as "Columbus Street 13".
Just thought i'd give some history out on a gang, so the younger generation out their reading this, would know the real history on some of these gangs.

You have their history backwards, The Watts Varrio Grape street is older than Grape Street Watts crip, when the latinos moved into the Jordan Downs Housing projects, they co-existed with the blacks that lived there also, back in the 70s, they started the Watts Varrio Grape street first, you can see pictures online from the late 80's-early 90's of some black grape street crip members with "WVG or Watts Varrio Grape Street" tatts on them, it wasnt until the late 70's-early 80's that the Mexican Mafia wanted to align all of the southern latinos under a banner, since everything was different from the streets to the pen, they wanted protection behind bars for latinos against any threats, in case a racial war popped off etc, this is when the blacks from jordan downs broke off from the Watts Varrio Grape street gang, which was mostly mexican and formed there own gang, the Grape Street Watts Baby Loc crips, both of these gangs are still tight with each other til this day, and co-exist peacefully in the same projects.

Yup, there was alonso, some, not all of these latino gangs in the san fernando valley started off as a crip or blood gang and then morphed into a sureno gang later on, theres a few other sureno gangs from the sfv that first started off as bloods aswell, ill make a post about it later on, im not saying all of the sureno gangs in the valley started off as bloods or crips, just some did, its like San Fer, Canoga Park Alabama, Barrio Van Nuys, etc those are all very old gangs and have always started off and been mexican gangs since the beginning.
