I was reading an L.A Times article dated from 1988, it was between a shootout of rival gangs, The Drifters gang and the Carnitas gang. Never heard of the carnitas gang, must've been a short lived "paisa" gang in L.A.
"Five members of yet another Latino street gang were shot by rival gang members at Cadillac Avenue and Venice Boulevard early Saturday, police said. The youths, all 17, were among eight people in a car that was approached by a second vehicle, whose passengers shouted out slogans of the Drifters gang, police said. First, the assailants shot out two tires of the victims’ car. Then, when the victims, members of the Carnitas gang, got out of the car, the assailants circled back and opened fire with a shotgun and a .38-caliber handgun. The five victims, whose names were not released, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment."
then again, there has been hundreds of different paisa gang's through out Los Angeles, some are still active like, 5th & hill gang, and some are defunct like the Chicken Hawk Watts 13, a paisa gang that was takin out by a much bigger gang, and also Shortys gang, a bunch of paisa's who killed a PBS13 gang member, they all got locked up for the murder and that was the end of the Shorty's gang, they were all ex-salvadorian.
