Salty (1953-1978) from Compton Crip/Grandee Crips

Salty (1953-1978) from Compton Crip/Grandee Crips

One of the first Crips to be murdered was Salty from Compton Crips who was murdered in 1973. Many believe that he was the one that murdered "Tam". Does anyone know Salty's real name? I believe that he was also one of the first Grandee Compton Crips.

Salty was well respected... I heard the complete opposite of what you wrote but I haven't done any crosschecking or research.. I was told that Salty died in retaliation for 'Tam"... don't quote me on that though.

Salty's government name was Joseph M. Labrunt.

I got word today that his name was Michael LeBlanc but I could find any death certificate for this name or Joseph M. LaBrunt.

I have the first and middle name correct but I may be mispelling the last name..

I think I found it.

Joseph Michael LeBlanc


If this is him, he died in October 1976 at the age of 19, not 1973 like others had told me.

Originally, I read your post wrong.. i thought you wrote that Tam killed Salty, which is why I posted that Salty was killed later.

But thats him Alonso- he was murdered in 1976.

LB from WSPiru killed salty. He is still locked up for that killing.
