In July 1970, 7 prisoners in Soledad were accused of killing prison guard, William Shull. In this photo, 2 of the Soledad 7 go to court in their murder case, James Wagner and Roosevelt Williams, both 24.

The other 5 Soledad 7 are Walter Watson, Jesse Phillips, O.C. Allen, Alfred Dunn and Jimmie James.

Walter Watson became a Slauson in 1959, then went to prison in 1965 and became a member of the Soledad 7 after the killing of prison guard, then he became a member of the Black Guerrilla Family.
