Allan Cameron

Accused cop killer Allan Cameron was close to signing a record deal - rapping under the name Cam Killah - before he allegedly gunned down Brooklyn cop Dillon Stewart, a Manhattan record label claimed yesterday.
"Everything about him was 'killer this' and 'killer that,'" Andre Faria, owner of True King Records, said of Cameron's lyrics. "When rappers say that, it's usually bull----. But maybe it's not with him."

"We were negotiating a contract with him and then he disappeared," said Faria, 31.

It was only after Cameron, 27, was fingered last Monday as the alleged shooter in the death of Stewart that Faria says he realized where Cameron had gone.

Faria said True King had been negotiating a contract with Cameron, but severed ties with him after he was arrested. He said he has no signed documents detailing the business relationship.

In May, Faria reportedly offered Osama Bin Laden's niece a chance to sing at his studio. He also gained attention in 2003 after putting up a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in the Harlem shooting death of his friend.

Stewart, 35, a father of two young daughters, was shot through the heart Monday as he and his partner pursued a driver who ran a red light in Flatbush.

Cameron has been indicted on first-degree murder charges in the slaying. He also is facing attempted murder charges for allegedly robbing and shooting off-duty Officer Wiener Philippe in Brooklyn on Nov. 19.

Cameron was being held at Rikers Island last night after allegedly shoving and elbowing a correction captain who was taking him back to his cell Thursday after a court appearance.

Cameron had complained of neck and back pain after he was pepper-sprayed and handcuffed in the scuffle, but X-rays and CAT scans at Bellevue Hospital found no injuries, authorities said.

Stewart's wife, Leslyn, spent yesterday planning for his Tuesday funeral. She and her family released a statement Thursday, saying Stewart leaves behind a "legacy of kindness, loyalty and selfless giving."

Cop-Killing Suspect Cameron Hospitalized After Scuffle With Guards
Accused Cop-Killer Could Face Additional Charges

Dec 2, 2005 5:31 am US/Eastern
NEW YORK (WCBS-TV) Accused cop killer Allan Cameron was hospitalized last night after a scuffle with a Corrections Department captain on Rikers Island, WCBSTV.com reports.

On Thursday, nearly 1,000 New York City police officers came to the courthouse where Cameron was indicted on first degree murder charges for the killing of police officer Dillon Stewart this week and the attempted murder in the shooting of officer Weiner Philippe less than two weeks ago.

Hours after his court appearance, when Cameron, 27, was being walked back through Rikers to his maximum-security cell, he had to be un-cuffed to go through a certain area.

During that time, the Department of Corrections said he initiated a scuffle with a corrections captain who used a minimal amount of force and re-secured his cuffs.

Since then, Cameron has been complaining of neck and back pain.

According to the Corrections department, it is procedure to transport inmates to the hospital when they complain of pain. The Corrections department said that doctors at Rikers found nothing wrong with the murder suspect.

The entire incident that happened last night is going to be reviewed by officials Friday.

The Corrections captain did not suffer any physical injuries, but was also brought to the hospital for elevated blood pressure.

It is possible that Cameron could face additional charges.

Cameron, who is being held without bail, could receive life in prison without parole if convicted of the murder charges.

He has claimed he had never owned or shot a gun in his life, and he suggested the slain officer was killed by friendly fire.

He also alleged that arresting officers had punched and kicked him. He quoted one officer as saying, "You killed my partner. You're going to die."

Patrolmen's Benevolent Association president Patrick Lynch, speaking to a throng of off-duty police officers at the courthouse on Thursday, denied the allegation.

"There was no abuse," he said. "We are professional police officers. Only a coward would say such a thing."

Lynch drew loud cheers as he denounced Cameron as a "mutt" and a "skell."

"As our number increase today, they will increase again the next time that mutt stands before the judge," Lynch said.

Lynch, who called on legislators to restore the death penalty, also told the crowd, "Let this be a catalyst for our elected official, to once and for all, call upon legislators to put through legislation to bring justice for every police officer who gives his life in the line of duty."

Last year, New York's highest court declared that a sentencing provision of the state's capital punishment statute, enacted in 1995, violates the state constitution.

A wake for Stewart will be held Monday, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the New Life Tabernacle Church, 4905 Avenue D, near Utica Ave. in Brooklyn.

A funeral service will be held at the same location Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
