Corey Miller, aka C-Murder, fought for over a decade against a conviction for the shooting death of a teenage fan in 2002. On Tuesday, his latest appeal was finally denied.

Miller's defense argued that their client did not get a fair trial, a statement founded on a juror's well-publicized admission that she had voted guilty in order to quickly wrap up the case to allow another distraught juror, a then 20-year-old student, to go home. She did not believe that prosecutors had proven their case "beyond a reasonable doubt."

The victim Steve Thomas was killed on January 12 in the Harvey, New Orleans Platinum Club, now closed. Miller's life sentence was upheld just within the required 10-2 vote of guilt for second-degree murder in the 5th Circuit Court of Appeal. Had this been a federal criminal case, finding of guilt would have required a unanimous vote.
