Using "C" sign for awareness with the Crips?

I received what I would call a rather bizarre message about contacting the Crips since they use the sign C. read below

My name is --------------. I lead a charity called Debbullan Inc. Among other things we raise positive awareness of Hep C. We created a recent campaign called SIGN 4 C . A supporter suggested we add the definition to Urban Disctionary.com. There we discovered it seems the Crips sign C. Alex, do you have a suggestion of how to contact the Crip gang (Los Angeles Chapter) with news of our campaign along with a request to help us raise awareness?

Futile attempt? I don't know you can tell me. I don't think it is. Debbullan is by no means an "elite" charity, our supporters and constituents walk in every area of life from Millionaire to pauper and all in between and sideways.
