Unread post by alexalonso » August 27th, 2013, 5:37 pm

By Robert J. Lopez - LA Times

August 27, 2013, 4:53 p.m.

Two people were killed and a third was critically wounded when gunfire broke out Tuesday afternoon near a South Los Angeles street corner, authorities said.

Multiple gunshots were reported about 4 p.m. in the 2700 block of West 64th Street in Hyde Park, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

At least two victims were initially reported down and a third person was wounded, Officer Muria Banegas said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department later said there were three victims, two of whom were dead upon arrival at a hospital. A third person was in critical condition, the department said.

Police swarmed the area and were setting up a perimeter to search for the attacker.

No other details were immediately available.

from the LA Times:
By Ruben Vives, Nicole Santa Cruz and Robert J. Lopez

August 27, 2013, 10:04 p.m.

Police were looking for suspects Tuesday night in a gang-related shooting that left two men dead and another critically wounded.

The victims were shot about 4 p.m. as they stood in the 2700 block of West 64th Street in Hyde Park. A vehicle pulled up and at least one attacker started shooting, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Police said the two men who died were in their mid-20s. The victim who was wounded was hit as he tried to flee. He also was in his mid-20s, according to the LAPD.

Witnesses told The Times they heard heard numerous gunshots during the attack.

"There were two shots then about 20 consecutive shots after that," one woman said.

When she stepped outside, the woman said, she saw several people running. One man was screaming, "They shot my nephew and my brother."

Another woman standing near two bodies, crying and screaming, "Oh my God," the woman recalled.

Capt. Tom McMullen said that "there were a number of rounds fired."

Police said the Hyde Park neighborhood has been the scene of other gang-related problems, including assaults and graffiti scrawled on walls.

Residents said teenagers often loiter in front of the apartment complex where the shooting took place.

As officers gathered evidence, Soraya Carpio, a 38-year-old nanny, stood in her frontyard watching people gathered on street corners. She has lived in the area for three years and said she hasn't heard gunshots.

"This is new for me," she said as a helicopter buzzed overhead.

I don't think so! It's very relevant. The woman who was interviewed was the aunt to the 15 year boy who was killed. She went on to say that her nephew was the 4th person to be killed int he area that is related to her. It is vital to get the knowledge out there that this area needs some help. It is a suspect neighborhood, when you drive by you will see young and older guys hanging out and even in the streets. It scares me and I stay away from the area.

thats loyalty toward fallen cuzz that pushed other kids to kill those 2 ..actually its a paybacc motivated by loyalty that killed those two kids ...if your gang name is 40 and one of your own drop ... let say the 100 did it ...itwould be unloyal not to ride on the people that did kill your own ...no am i crazy ?

These kids need to develop there knuckle game and they big homies need to enforce some type of structure. Because it appears to be the blind leading the blind.
