Actually Rollin,

Would you believe before they got they funny actor,

They wanted to have real cholo play the Miclo part,

They had already contract Big Lefty de La Geraghty Loma for that part.

He had just got out the of Y.T.S. and had "the look"

pero that "clavo" #%@& him and got 'em busted before they could start shooting the movie.

The movie was OK but they should have used some real vatos or at least more believable actors as their main characters. Benjamim Bratt was the only one that came out authentic. Wasn't like American Me where they filmed the sh-it en Folsom.... 8) Bill Forsythe (JD) played the part well.

I like Danny Trejo though, even though he had just a few appearances in the movie.

Animal Factory, if you havent yet, check it out, its another joint flick that has Danny Trejo in it.

Ok thanks, i will. But dude is getting old slowly, no? He must be in his 50s 60s......

Judging from an outsiders view, american me was brilliant it had a real feel to it the whole time.At no time did a think this is some far fetched bullsh.t.and the actors all seemed hardcore and believable as gangsters. In blood in blood out (which i enjoyed as well.)some of the characters seemed corny, especially the white guy.

i agree with dis post. blood in blood out has pretty bad acting and a lot of it is waaayyy overdone... american me is more realistic in terms of wat could happen. and blood in blood out is so long that eventually it gets boring

I'm not smoking crack PUTO. I just like Blood In Blood Out more than the other 1. I wonder why fools mix them up so much & Blood In Blood Out is the 1 with the Mexican/White guy named Miclo.

Taking a break between two crack pipes I must admit that BIBO is my favorite movie of all times. Concerning the length this is what I like about it. There are some cons although. The actor who plays Miclo (portraying Joe Morgan?) is bad, I don't believe him being a shot caller for La Onda (eMe). And I don't like the fact they f#@ked the story up. Don't know why they left the Nortenos out and again portrayed the Cadena story killed by his own. That guy who played Miklo likes himself in the role of white mexican gangbanger. He plays a character called "Kilo" in an other movie. Kinda Scarface rip off.

Anyway, BIBO is a underground cult movie here in Germany. Ppl with style know it and love it. AM is not so well known.

They left out nortenos because the film is fiction.

Yeah, I know. But there are some nonfictional sides in that one – anything else is there, so, why not the Nortenos?

Like I said, it's fiction. They just made black gangs, white gangs & cholos. Everybody always wants to make it out to be something more than it ain't. I don't see anything non-fictional about it at all. They obviously got ideas for the film from actual life, but pure fiction.

Obviously the movie was loosely inspired on some actual events but the creator of the movie was probably being careful not to ruffle any feathers and thus the script was really nothing like real life events. so why at least not show Nortenos? who know for sure only the creator and makers of the film can answer that question.

What events were portrayed on bound by honor? Cadena was never even killed by his own on the 1st place, but in American Me he was. Obviously they wanted to make the film some what realistic, but kept some real generic names & made their own version of a story based off some gangs in Cali.

We're basically saying the same thing in a different manner, anything you don't already know. true, the movie doesn't actually portray any real life events that I can think of and that's why I said the film was inspired by them. I think the dude that made the movie was also an actor in the film and knew to stay away from the prison facts and to the guy's question... maybe this is why the Northerners weren't portrayed in the film? who knows. like you said it was somewhat real but sometimes the scenes and dialog were down right laughable.
