The documentary was alright I just wished he hadn't copied all his information from the City of Quartz by the white cat. Im suprised he hasn't been sued for copyright infringement.

I think he had permission. Mike Davis participated in the film. I've read City of Quartz, and only very little of the book deals with the topic of gangs and police. Really just one chapter.

If this film copied anything, it was another documentary called, "the fire this time". I haven't seen that yet, but I heard a lot of footage from "bastards" is copied from that.

It took 9 years to immulate dvd's that i made in a week, and all those dudes weren't APB's, a lot of them were 60's!

Why are you asking me questions that I have no idea the answer to? I thought I'd help you out by passing along some information I found posted on another board from a year ago. I know it's old news but it might explain why there's been no DVD release yet. HBO always releases their documentaries on DVD so it's kind of surprising this one hasn't been done yet, and maybe this is part of the answer to that. Or it could just be all BS. Either way, there's other ways to get a hold of the movie outside of a DVD copy if you really want to see it.

What they should have done is compiled a list of who knows the most history of the city of LA, and just go with who is better on camera.
