AGREED!!
aint halloween about also payin respect to dead loved ones?

no... memorial day and veterans day are the days dedicated to remembering our passed loved ones.

Holloween has many implications, but the important thing to remember is to regard every day as a Gift,
so to honor that particular day, it is also the day of celebrating the Harvest... For it is the beginning of the end of another year's crop, and the blessing be a joyful bounty of canning, pickling, drying and curing food to last through the spring.
(warped into the candy thing)

The witch and goblin thing came from some weird Christian slant on All Saint's day... which is to honor the saints. THOSE dead people, who have been dead for over 500 years, according to Catholicism. How Saints turned into the evil walking dead for one night before, I not sure, but that is why people dress in cosyume, to hide their identity from the souls released for one night, lest they steal a place in your body

it is also near the fall equinox, so it gets some sort of rarified recognition as being pagan,,, but i dont really see the correlation...

anyway.. to be afraid of Holloween, is as sensible as being afraid of the tooth fairy

yes they do, and it is sort of morbid in symbolism, but I beleive it to e benevolent.

Ray Bradbury wrote several stories around the Mexican Day of the Dead. there is a particular attention paid to 'sugar skulls'...

Its called Dia de los muertos..

When I was little girl in mexico they held a celebration at a cemetery, and had a picnic next to our loved ones grave..I remember me and my brother decorating the cemetery with streamers and stuff..You're supposed to talk with your family and that person you lost as if they're sitting right next to you..You spend the entire day there..Decorating their headstone, bringing them gifts, flowers, anything they might have liked when they were still alive..You dress either formal, or in a costume..Afterwards you pray, leave the cemetery, and go to a parade party..This is all positive..Nothing satanic about it..Just celebrating with lost loved ones

I think I will, thanks for showin me some love.. :P

Im not going to lie...When my son was a baby I dressed him up in a little hershey kisses costume..He looked sooooo cute, people just wanted to eat him..I have pictures..But im gonna have to do some diggin for those..Now all he wants to do is look like some evil nasty demon or killer..I think celebrating Halloween for the sole purpose of having fun and allowing your kids to get out and be with their friends isn't satanic..Its not like we're walking around yelling "Praise the Devil!!" Thats totally different..But then again I could be totally wrong..The origin of Halloween is very disturbing if you research its roots, and we as 2006 civilized people still keep it in tradition..
