the ab didnt need mexicans to do work for them before taking san quentin (for a number of years they were alone and even still the blacks arent alone either) on top of which it is the ab that does msot of the emes muscle work not the other way around as in return the eme has more influence and drugs on the streets:
"During the late 1950s, white inmates in California prisons were frequently being assaulted and victimized by roving bands of predatory inmates. Most of whom were either black or Hispanic. Rapes, beatings, stabings, cell thefts, and other acts of violence directed at white inmates had become rampant, and the administration seemed unable to control them. Some of the stronger white inmates began arming themselves with prison made weapons and fighting back. Many of these were renegade bikers, some fo whom had tiny bits of glas embedded in their teeth and called themselves the Diamond tooth Gang. Members of the Diamond Tooth gang encouraged other whites to arm themselves and stick together to put a stop to the attacks once and for all. Other whites joined in, yet the Diamond tooth still lacked the sufficient membership to discourage further attacks. Recruitment stepped up. As more inmates joined the gang dropped the name Diamond Tooth in favor of the Blue bird gang. Their identifying tatoo, usually inscribed on the neck, was a pair of blue birds in flight, which symbolized freedom.
The Blue Birds gained strengh for awhile, and than began to falter. During the turbulent 1960s, all out race wars erupted within the prison system, pitting Blacks, Hispanics, and Whites against each other. It was during this period that several neo-nazi groups on the yard at San Quentin teamed up with the remnants of the Blue Birds, giving birth to what would become one of the most feared and violent prison gangs, the Aryan Brotherhood.
The AB limited membership to only the strongest and most violent White inmates and those who would kill without question. A "blood-in blood-out" decree was issued for all members. To gain membership, a prospect had to kill whomever the AB targeted. The only way out of the gang was death.
"The purpose of the Aryan Brotherhood is to bring back respect that is long overdue in coming to this prison and to the White Race! At all costs! We will strive to maintain that respect.
To reinforce their goal of beocming the most feared gang at San Quentin, The AB, which numbered around 100 members, put out the green light (open season to hit) on all blacks, regardless of their gang or political affiliation. AB soldiers eargerly jumped at this opportunity to retaliate for the violence that had been directed against the white inmates previously. Blacks suddenly found themselves being attacked without provocation by soldiers of this newly created white warrior society. In the early 1970's, gang assaults and murders within the California prison system climbed dramatically, the AB was responsible for many of these.
To show disrespect to the AB meant isntant bloody retribution. Not the slightest insult was tolerated. Once its reputation for brutality had been established, the AB moved right on into the control of organized prison rackets. Protection, extortion, narcotics, weapons, and contract hits followed, including the brutal murders of career correctional officers by known AB leaders."
