BANGKOK (AFP) -- Jamaicans are among black male prostitutes who are in demand in Thailand where their favours have become sought after by high-society women, according to a newspaper report.

More than 100 black gigolos are now catering to Thailand's female elite who prefer them because they are "fiercer", more "thrilling" in bed than their Thai peers and "well built", the Nation newspaper cited a sociology professor as saying.

Nithet Tinnakul, a lecturer at Bangkok's prestigious Chulalongkorn University who conducted a survey on male prostitution in Thailand, said escort services have begun recruiting men from Africa and Jamaica to meet growing demand, the English language daily reported.

It said some Thai women were paying upwards of 10,000 baht (243 dollars) per night for the services, which fly in the face of conservative Thai traditions.

The niche market, Nithet said, was part of a broader expansion of male prostitution, which until recently had largely focused on a gay clientele but has become increasingly popular with women, particularly Japanese tourists.

Nithet's survey found that the number of male prostitutes in Thailand has tripled in the past two years to more than 30,000, the newspaper said.

Factors contributing to the dramatic rise include the lingering effects of the Asian economic crisis and a new attitude among women that they should "get even" with philandering husbands, the newspaper cited Nithet as saying.

Thailand's male prostitutes were aged 12-35, and included university graduates, office workers, students and street children, Nithit said.

i dont agree, because i've dated a white girl and she was harder in attitude, than these sistahs i've been with. It depends on the person, or the individual, in my opinion. Race has nothing to do with attitude and personality. Thats like an insult to me as well, saying that i only did it because i couldn't handle my sistahs. NOT the case at all. Its like were incinuating that there aint enough black women to go around, or that white women outnumber black women.

Most of us live in interracial societies what do you expect?

In African countries the couples are pretty much all same race. Why cause their countries are dominated by one race.

In US and UK there are many interracial couples because society isnt dominated by one race. We got more choice whats the problem?

i don't agree. you speak as if we inferior to them and we need to talk to them and all that. Im not racist but i wouldn't care if no white person didn't talk to me. and whites are not the only ones who give out jobs and loans and all that so stop thinking they are ruling america and we second class citizens. Us blacks have pull in american society but there are alot of blacks who have this mentality that we living in they country and they are over us. its more of them in person and they have more power but if you black you can't walk around thinking we need them and they don't need us. cuz just like they give us jobs, we give them jobs too.
