S.R.S THEE OLDEST SURENO HOOD IN S.R. IS DEAD NO MORE MEMBERS ARE ACTIVE, ULL SEE LIL GRAFFITI ONCE IN A DECADE BUT AINT COMING BACK. ANYTIME SOON.
U GOT VSRN THE OLDEST GANG IN SANTA ROSA WHO IS STRUGGILIN ON THE DEFENSE BECAUSE SURENOS DOMINATED THEIR AREAS IN THE CITY , THEIR TRUE TURF IS THE DOWNTOWN MALL AND TRANSIT BUS STATION.THATS THEIR SAFE ZONE. VSP XIV IN SOUTH PARK ARE DYING OUT ITS A OLD NORTENO HOOD BUT ALL THEIR OLDER HOMIES ARE NOT ACTIVE AND AINT TRYIN TO RECRUIT SOLDIERS.. NX4 IS 1 OF THE OLDEST NORTENO HOODS IN S.R. BUT DIED OUT ..P.L. IS A NORTENO HOOD IN THE N.W. S.R AREA AND IS STRUGGLIN TO KEEP THEIR NAME ALIVE IN THEIR AREA WICH IS HEAVILY INFLUENZED BY PSC X3 GANG. THERE IS ALSO A NEW NORTENO GANG OUT OF UKIAH TRYING TO MAKE IT IN THE STREETS OF SANTA ROSA CALLED ATC BUT YET HAVE ANY TURF IN THE CITY , THEY JUST ASSOCIATE WITH VSRN ALOT, SEEMS LIKE NORTENOS ALLIE WITH EACOTHER ON THE DEFENSE BECAUSE OF THE SPREAD BY SURENOS..

The guy, Raul Vega, in Santa Rosa, is accused of 2 separate murders.

THE PRESS DEMOCRAT
Published: Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 3:56 p.m.
Last Modified: Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 3:56 p.m.

A 20-year-old Santa Rosa man will be tried at the same time for two murders he's accused of committing a year apart, a judge ruled Tuesday.

Raul Vega is charged in the mistaken-identity killing of Vallejo musician Dewey Tucker during a gang-related drive-by shooting on Interstate 80 in January 2010.

He's also charged with stabbing to death Juan Carlos Angel-Esparza of Santa Rosa during a knife fight on the Kawana Elementary School grounds in January 2011.

Now on the eve of trial, Vega's lawyer sought to sever the cases, arguing they are separate allegations that could prejudice the jury if tried together.

But Judge Dana Simonds agreed with prosecutors that they are both tied to the same Santa Rosa gang rivalry with "cross-admissible" evidence suggesting Vega was attempting to avenge an earlier killing of a friend.

"Both of these cases are first-degree murder cases in which the defendant played a central role in the death of the victims," Simonds said in making her ruling.

Jury selection is expected to begin Friday and opening statements could come Sept. 24. The trial is expected to run one month.

Two former co-defendants have pleaded to lesser charges and a third was acquitted of murder after a separate jury trial. None are expected to testify against Vega.

Instead, prosecutors will rely on Vega's confessions to police.

He's admitted being in the knife fight that killed Angel-Esparza, according to prosecutors and defense attorneys. And he's confessed to driving alongside Tucker's car and firing a handgun at it, according to a CHP officer who testified at Vega's preliminary hearing.

People v. Peter James Amante
On the night of June 26, 2002, defendants[2] were hanging out at defendant Amantes apartment on Stony Point Road in Santa Rosa, where he lived with his fiance Kacee Dragoman and their small child. Defendants were all members of the Norteo street gang. Amantes mother, her boyfriend, Dragoman, Lindsey Ortiz (Amantes teenaged cousin, who lived in a nearby apartment),[3] and Amantes and Dragomans young son also were present at the apartment. Defendants were drinking beer, playing cards, and watching television. Amantes mother and her boyfriend eventually went upstairs to bed.

Dragoman and defendant Ochoa were talking on a patio outside the living room around midnight, when people heard whistles coming from outside the apartment. According to various witnesses, including the prosecutions expert witness on criminal street gangs, members of the Sureo gang and other Mexican nationals use a particular whistle to identify themselves. Dragoman testified that when she heard the whistle, It was a bad sign. Its a rival gang whistle. Ochoa reported that he heard the whistle coming from the other side of a fence that separated the apartment from Santa Rosa Creek and that there were Scraps (a derogatory term for a member of the rival Sureo gang) in the area. At the time, members of the Norteo and Sureo gangs had rival claims to the area by the creek near Stony Point Road. Ochoa also whistled. Defendants ran quickly to the kitchen, opened drawers,[4] then left the apartment; Dragoman and Ortiz followed.

On a nearby bridge on Stony Point Road in a parked car were Rebecca Sandoval (Rebecca) and her small child and stepchild; her husband Miguel Sandoval (Miguel) was outside the car speaking with his father. Miguel had seen his friend Ignacio Gomez (who he knew only as Jose, another name Gomez went by) riding his bicycle on the bridge. Gomez lived with his fiance in a nearby homeless camp, where he bought and sold methamphetamine and heroin. According to Gomezs fiance, Gomez was not a gang member, but his friends were associated with the Sureo gang, and he typically wore blue clothing, which was associated with the Sureo gang. Jose, Miguel, and Miguels father whistled to each other on the bridge and greeted one another.

Rebecca testified that she heard people jumping a fence, and shortly thereafter she saw Ochoa (who she recognized from a youth center) and someone else head toward the bridge she was on. They were followed about a minute or a minute and a half later by Higuera (an acquaintance of Rebeccas) and another man she did not recognize. As the four men crossed the bridge, one of them said, Whats up to Miguel, and another said Norte. The four crossed the bridge, then three of them went down a bike path under the bridge; Ochoa stayed back.

Dragoman and Ortiz, who were the last to leave Amantes apartment, walked down a path and found Amante (who was wearing a red 49ers jersey) stuck by his pants leg on the fence separating him from the creek. Ortiz described Amante as drunk. While Dragoman and Ortiz were loosening Amantes pants from the fence so that he could get down, a large butcher knife fell from Amantes pocket.

After Amante was freed from the fence, he picked up the knife he had dropped and ran to the people near the car parked on the bridge on Stony Point Road; Amante was holding the knife as if he were going to stab someone. Dragoman and Ortiz left the apartment complex through another route and met up with Amante at the bridge. Amante spoke to the people in the parked car, then dropped the knife he was holding. Dragoman testified that she believed Amante picked up the knife and put it in his pants. Amante crossed the bridge (which was illuminated by street lights), then ran down the path to the creek where the three other defendants had gone. Ortiz followed him but at first could not see anything because it was so dark. Dragoman testified that she saw Amante walk down, meet up with Higuera, Cardenas, Ochoa, and Lopez, then walk back up to the bridge 30 seconds later.

Miguel testified he saw five males and two females on the night of the murder. One of the men asked Miguel if he bang[ed] Norte, and Miguel answered that he was just talking to his father. Miguel interpreted the question about banging Norte as he just wanted problems. But at that time, I mean, Im not a gangster, so, you know, I just told him I dont bang nothing. Miguel saw a black handle in the pocket of the man who asked if he banged Norte, but he did not know whether it was a knife.

Miguel testified that Gomez rode his bicycle down a path under the bridge. Miguel testified that thats when I heard they stop him, they stop Jose, and thats when Iwhen that happened. When the men stopped Jose, Miguel heard one of them ask Jose whether he was a Sureo. He testified that he heard people hitting Gomez and calling him a lot of bad words, and he heard Gomez yelling help and screaming. Miguel saw three men (the person who asked if he bang[ed] Norte and two others) hitting Gomez, and he saw one of the men stabbing Gomez with a knife. During the attack, a man wearing a red 49ers jersey over a tank top approached Miguel, dropped a knife on the ground in front of Miguels car, then picked it up and ran toward the other men. Miguel testified that the man went all the way to with the other guys where Jose was and the other guy, one of the girls was telling him to stop. And thats when my friend Jose, I heard he was not screaming no more. Thats when the other guy and the other two girls came with him to see what happened. He also testified that the first time I thought it was just fighting, but when the guythe other guy came running and he dropped a knife, I know something was happening because he was yelling, and after that he justhe was so quiet. After the man who dropped the knife started running to catch the other guys, [t]hey were all fighting. And thats when the other guy and the two girls came all together. Thats whenwhen there was no noise. And thats when I heard the bike fall on the floor.

Gomez suffered 38 to 40 stab wounds on his head, face, chest, back, and shoulders; he died from multiple wounds to the torso after being stabbed in the heart and lungs. It could not be determined whether one or more stabbing instrument was used. A forensic pathologist opined that one person could have inflicted all of the stab wounds in less than a minute, and that the victim lived only a couple of minutes after he was stabbed in the heart.

Approximately five minutes after Ortiz had started down the path, Ortiz saw Ochoa (who was not armed) coming up the path. He was followed by Cardenas and Lopez, who ran up the path toward Ortiz. Lopez had blood on his black and white Raiders jersey; Ortiz did not see a knife on him. Ortiz did not see blood on Cardenas, and she never saw him with a knife. Ortiz continued down the path, and eventually saw Amante and Higuera. Amante was running; Higueras arm was cut, and he was acting as if he were in pain.

After defendants came up from the creek, they returned to Amantes and Dragomans apartment. As they were walking back across the bridge, Ortiz and defendants lifted their shirts up toward their heads after Ortiz saw a police car and directed the others to hide their faces. Rebecca and Miguel drove to a nearby convenience store so that Rebecca could call 911, because it was obvious to her that something happened.[5]

When the group returned to Amantes apartment, five members of the Norteo gang joined them. Lopez told Amante that this was for Cinco de Mayo,[6] talked about eating people, then put on a blue beanie hat with Sur written on it that he had not been wearing when he left the apartment. Dragoman testified that Lopez was kind of like bragging like walking around with a little strut, stuff like that, kind of like a larger than life moment for him or something. Ortiz testified that after Lopez made the remark about Cinco de Mayo, Pete, he saidI think he said, What the fuck are you talking about? And then Rico [Lopez] said something after that and then everyone just got quiet. Ochoa paced nervously, said he was concerned about police being at the creek, and commented, I dont think that guy was a Scrap. Ochoa flushed a black handle from Dragomans knife set down the toilet. Higuera was on the telephone, had a t-shirt wrapped around his right arm and was applying pressure to it, and appeared to be in a rush to leave. Lopez had blood on his shoes. Ortiz and Dragoman helped wash Lopezs and Ochoas clothing.

Police found the victim the next morning near a bike path on the north side of the creek. When police found the victim, his pants were pulled down below his waist. He was wearing blue clothing consistent with what Sureo gang members wear. Police found Sureo and Norteo gang graffiti in the area near where Gomez was found. Some Norteo graffiti had been written over Sureo graffiti, a crossout that was a huge form of disrespect in the gang world, according to the prosecutions gang expert. As discussed more fully below, the expert also testified that it was his opinion that defendants were active members of the Norteo street gang at the time of the murder, and that such a murder would be committed for the benefit of the gang because killing a rival gang member would show the gangs power and instill fear of the gang in the community.

hell man, i don't know anything about all those surenos banging up north other than few little things
but it seems like they have a lot of dumb ass funky little names, if you'd ask me

that whole surenos cosa being taken to the streets full blown didn't start happening 'til after the seventies
it was there in some places, and it went heavier from place to place, from neighborhood to neighborhood, from town to town, and from city to city 'til it got to the way it is now

but even so, sureno politics on the streets should only serve two purposes in my book, and that is ~> other razas
and against the establishment - the ruling civil politics
other than that, it should just stay on the inside

and when it comes down to surenos up north
i can only opine that the old true south siders were the early ones who moved up there
the rest are newcomer immigrant raza from mexico

Dispensa if im offending you Vago from the 408, but that's just how i look at it.

I know for a fact that there's a lot of old upstate varrios that were just the mirror image of any from the southland
varrios from san jo, san fran, sacra, watson, haywards, union city, richmond, bazooklas, and from all over up there., they all got down "chicano style" ., but things changed., styles changed., raza changed., and now raza fights each other for a pinche name., surenos., nortenos., i'm not down with it., so dispensa if i offended you, but that's the way i feel about it.

A few observations to chew on, Lonewolf. When the North vs. South thing kicked off, it was NF and EME using Nortenos and Surenos as chess pawns. Guess what .... they're still doing that!!! For them, this "war" thing is only a way of controlling their pawns and USING them for their ends. Of course, the gangs (North and South) buy into this mess because they consider it a worthy "cause" but the Big Homies secretly laugh at them. I have read plenty of debriefs (dropout reports) to tell you they consider their subordinates totally expendable in the end. If they wake up one morning in their jail or prison cell and decide that some of these footsoldiers (as they call them) knows too much and can possibly be used against them in a RICO indictment, what do you think happens to that loyal Norteno or Sureno? You got it .... they whack him and don't lose any sleep because he/she is EXPENDABLE. The EME people who have these regional connections to the North could care less about killing Nortenos unless it serves their CONTROL or FINANCIAL purposes. Just like they used the "attack the blacks" movement in Southern California and in the prison system, this "ethnic cleansing" program, for CONTROL, they'll let their minor league affiliates in the North stir the pot as much as possible but in the end, they would rather have a "working relationship" with those gang members who represent dollars and cents to them. I'm sure they covet places like San Jose (very big city .... biggest in Norcal) and others. Interesting to see how all this plays out. Those of us in the law enforcement community do not want to see a unification of north and south for obvious reasons but those folks in the California neighborhoods really have more to lose.

I'm from Santa Rosa, but I live in LA now. Santa Rosa has something like 200,000 people and it's pretty spread out. Norte used to run it, now it seems pretty split with Sur. There used to be some Asian Crips, but I don't know if they're around anymore. There have been some small gangs mostly made up of black and white dudes like Rose Town Crips and some others, but I think that they're all defunct now.

Why didnt you just post the list here? That link is dead, so in the future, just post the gang names by using cut and paste.
