I think spanking kids is more an issue of ethnicity rather than race. I would say that wasps dont spank their kids. However, irish people do spank their kids. I got hit and so did all my friends on a regular basis. It didnt do any harm and I have good manners as a result.

@ doobeez- Mane, your mom must have been from the south. My wife is from Cali, and she is black. She was talking that time out garbage, and I had to show her the power of the Whooping. Some may disagree, but I think that it is very effective. I got whooped with switches, belts, paddles and whatever else my mom could get a hold to and swing. Violence teaches violence. There are other ways to discipline children than hitting them. I spanked my son 3xs as a child and it was 1x he was 3, almost took off across a street and the 2 others were also for similar behaviors where he would get hurt. Because I didnt spank him often, when I did it made a permanent impression on him. He grew up to be a fine man, great husband and father. Hitting your kids as a means of daily discipline is not going to teach them right from wrong and in fact it teaches them violence is an answer.
