I remember, in the early 90s there was a wave of reports on crime and Gang related violence in the US over here and people were kind of shocked, but that has completely seized. I think it has also something to do with the popularity that Gangster Rap gained over here among the kids during those times. But now its old news kind of, as sad as it sounds.

The key word "anymore". I remember growing up in the 80's where even on Canadian news we were getting reports of gang violence out of L.A. and how rap artists of the time were coming together trying to stop the violence and this and that. It was big news once upon a time, but the killing never stopped and people just forgot about it. It's like the starving in Africa. They have the Live 8 concert, everyone donates money figures everything is fine and move onto the next cause. No one actually stops to look back and ask if anything got fixed.

fact is no one cares anymore, and personally why should people care anymore. Caring about the situation isnt going to solve it.

yeah i do see what you mean because i was reading on my cities history and foung out that a couple of hoods in the present day actually use to be like the place to be if you were wealthy from like the maybe early to mid 1900's which is kind of weird alot of areas my parents used to live in are now like that which is kinda weird and as fucked up as it sounds when the white people leave then all hell breaks loose

in my opinion is the biggest reason, because wen white folks leave the community is forgoten then , the community gets lower value and instead of LA fitness u get a liqour store, a dollar store, clubs and them type shits....then the apt complexes are not taken care of well...and all of us kno its hard to maintain a huose...it mite be cheap to buy a huose in the hood but u still got to go to the same wallmart or w.e to buy stuff to fix ur house....most folks grand parents had the houses and cud afford maintainance but they cant and like don want to coz they can leave the neighborhood after moving on up...thus leavin them big ass hood squares infron of houses and crack houses, hoe houses, and alot of bumbs in them houses who do alot of dumb crimes......then it jst becomes a rotten area..it takes a long time.....but sometimes short

E.g. I just read some shit about Islamabad, Pakistan. The bad part of that city is called "Little Kabul" cause all the refugees from Afghanistan settled down there.

I would say, simplified its like this:

Poor people move in, rich/wealthier people move out, no matter if they are white, green, purple or yellow.

And when back in the day blacks moved to the big cities on the east and west coast they were anything but rich.

How are poor people moving into where the rich people live? Those panhandlers must make a killing! They didn't need spare change for a phone call! They're using that money for a down payment on the house next door!

Rich areas take an economic hit of sorts, housing becomes affordable, poorer people move in, rich people start leaving, housing prices fall, rich people start to leave even more, other poor people move in until it's a virtual slum. There's a lot of factors to consider and skin colour may be just one of those.
