THE WARRIORS

Unread post by Lonewolf » January 3rd, 2005, 8:48 pm

OLD SCHOOL MOVIE DEPICTING NEW YORK STREETGANGS STYLE OF THE 60's & 70's.

Since I ain't never been to New York, how close to the style was the movie in its depiction of gangs back then?

Is there any place in the U.S.A. where you still have Presidents & Warlords type of leadership in gangs?

The Eastsidaz has it in the beginning of one of their songs. The dipset probably use it to cause they have a video pretty much depicting parts from the movie. The movie was pretty good, although the theme of them fighting almost every gang to make it home is pretty up their.

actually most the extras were actual gang members, but thats how the gangs were in the 70s but for unknown reasons they died off suddenly

Yeah most of them are based on gangs and the structure back in the 70s.

the realest old school gang movie ive seen was the education of sonny carson

Favorite line, after one of the guys sais to 'Ajax':

"There's too many of them. We can't take them".......

Ajax sais, "Not if they're pu**ies, and I'm tired of this running sh*t!"

Was that when they were facing those scrapy looking ORPHANS than ran off when The Warriors threw that molotov cocktail and lit up that car?

ODB used the line "warriors come out and play" as well. I love that old flick.

I've got a couple friends at Rock Star who are working on the video game version right now. It should be out by the end of summer. It's gonna be dope.

Yep. And, I'll never forget the girl on the steps; When the Orphans decide to go ahead and let the Warriors walk through with their jackets on:

"Bwak bwak bwak bwaaaaak!"

And, of course, she winds up leaving with the Warriors anyhow.

The game should be out in a few months. It's totally silly and crazy violent. Should be really fun.

They've got a trailer up now at. http://www.rockstargames.com/thewarriors/

If u liked the Warriors u should also try the Wanderers set in different time period and based around an italian street gang heavy film and another classic is Class of 1984 and a futuristic one called Class of 1999 try them. tell me what u think.

The remake of the Warriors is going to take place in L.A. and be more realistic - in other words no BaseBall Furies, Riffs, Turnbull AC's or other colorful gangs. The main gang will still be called the Warriors but the other gangs will be based on real L.A. gangs - Crips, Bloods, 18th.

It's going to directed by Tony Hill, a writer on the Sopranos. I'm not to optimistic about it, remakes usually suck, especially if the original movie is a classic.

I loved this movie, it showed the gang politics but it didnt show no gangster shit. But you definetily have a good time watchin it and i dont think they should remake this cause theyll fuck it up it wasnt produced to show gang jackin it was done to show the gang image like colors, numbers.

Good movie - that central character was a hardman for sure - but being hard like that had a very high price too - was a very sad movie too man, about the loss of a warrior identity, replaced by a 'modern' warrior identity which was a real poor shadow of what the Moiri people had lost to colonialism.......

That's the one . . . back when it first came out ~~> the movie's
projection of "a lost cultural identity replaced with a hybrid" went
over people's head and not much attention nor credit given to it.
