Police Crack Down on Noise and Lewd Conduct
05/28/2007
GEORGETOWN, Del.- As memorial weekend winds down, Georgetown police are on high alert.
Seargent Mike Barlow of the Georgetown Police Department says they expect many calls from locals complaining of lewd behavior and loud noises. Barlow says alcohol is a major factor in a lot of these violations.
Patrols are set up in special areas where police say are more populated. "You got people loitering at any given place and we got several large apartment complexes in town. We've got some pretty high densely populated areas and we just keep tabs on those," said Barlow.
Barlow says the public has been very responsive to situations like this. Barlow says they've recieved calls from citizens saying someone is urinating on thier building or adjacent building.
Police are also keeping and eye out for outdoor parties. Police say as the weather stays warm, more people are likely to remain outside instead of go inside during the night.
