As a black man, I am sickened by gangs regardless of the skin color of their members. For me, there is not any difference between a white person spreading destruction through acts of violence than a black or brown person. It is repulsive how gangs live off the high of violence, which is the real motivation behind their destructive behavior. Gang members have always been attracted to the destructive force of violence, which eventually is what they end up falling in love with in living out the homicidal (and suicidal) lifestyle of gang banging. Their love for violence is as addictive as any drug. These black, brown, white brothers and sisters that are caught up in the gangs are merely addicts to the drug of violence, and have been seriously afflicted by the sickness which it causes. This is why so many of the minds of gang members seem to be misshapen or misguided by their own false sense of a distorted reality that is bent on destruction. In trying to understand their practice of self-hate, you sense a level of ruthlessness to commit unnecessary acts of violence in the name of street and jail house justice that have been way too chilling and horrific for far too long to ever be accepted, justified, or tolerated by any sane and just society, which I do not claim the US to be. I do claim, that as an adult male who happens to be black and who is living in an America which has a long history of unrighteousness and violence, especially toward my kind, that I am not going to perpetuate the same acts of violence used against me, to justify killing another being over a name of a street that does not belong to me, or ending a life to defend nothing more than a false pride represented by some $2 dollar rag, and I will not kill a person regardless of skin color, and especially if the skin color is the same as mine, over years of years senseless feuding, because I refuse to fall prey to this lunacy. Violence for a gang member is like crack or meth for any addict. We can only end this problem when we recognize that the problem is that the Gangs enjoy the fighting and shooting, and the cheap thrills that come from it, way too much and way too often. This must be stopped by any means, necessary.

The Oklahoma City Police Department has received several reports of Robberies and Home Invasions targeting Hispanic victims.

Commonalities are that the majority of these crimes have occurred at apartment complexes, usually as the victims are either coming or going to their apartments, late at night or early in the morning and the suspects are usually 2 to 3 (4 in some cases) Black males, in their late teens or early twenties.

The locations of these robberies are on both the north and south sides of Oklahoma City. The targeted areas are between Portland to Rockwell, Reno to NW 23rd on the north side and Santa Fe to Pennsylvania, SW 36th to I-240 on the south side. Oklahoma City Police has taken a combined 63 Robbery and Home Invasion reports since June within these two areas.

Detectives believe the suspects may be affiliated with gangs and are targeting Hispanics because the suspects believe they tend to carry cash instead of depositing the money in a bank and are less likely to report the crime to police. Detectives also believe there may be several more victims who have failed to report additional robberies.

Police encourage anyone who has been a victim of any crime to call 911 and file a police report. In addition, if anyone has any information in reference to these crimes, police ask that they contact Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Police in Oklahoma City and Tulsa say illegal immigrants are increasingly becoming targets of criminals because the victims are reluctant to report crimes due to fear of being deported.

The victims also are targeted because they are not likely to have bank accounts and are more likely to carry large amounts of cash, police say.

Tulsa police say about 40 percent of all robberies target Hispanic immigrants. It's a problem in Oklahoma City as well, a police spokesman said.

"In a way, they are the perfect victims," said Michael Brooks-Jimenez, an Oklahoma City immigration attorney. "Whatever inroads the Oklahoma City Police Department and the police in other places have made with the Hispanic community to re-establish their trust has been eroded by these criminals that continue to target them."

Oklahoma City police say last summer, gangs were targeting residents of an apartment complex where Hispanic immigrants lived.

"The only solution to this problem is a consistent policy of enforcement that reduces illegal immigration. Illegals are always going to be hesitant of the police," said Steve Camarota, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies, a Virginia-based public policy group that advocates strict enforcement of U.S. immigration laws.

Immigrants will remain apprehensive because they typically come from countries with rampant police and government abuse and corruption, Camarota said .

Crime in Tulsa is up about 6.4 percent this year, despite a drastic decline in homicides. The robbery rate against Hispanics is high even though there are fewer to victimize; Tulsa County is coordinating the deportation of about 100 immigrants a month, more than a thousand since the passage of House Bill 1804, the state's immigration enforcement law.

"It appears the immigrant population does have a direct effect on robberies," said Jason Willingham, spokesman for the Tulsa Police Department. "And it's simply because people are going into Hispanic neighborhoods, and they are targeting them."

After the passage of HB 1804, members of the Hispanic community began making allegations of racial profiling. Willingham says the allegations were investigated, but none were substantiated.

The department then launched a campaign to better explain its policy. Willingham said police distributed cards printed in Spanish outlining what people can be arrested for and cards alerting Hispanics that they were being targeted by criminals.

"We have not had one violation of 1804, that I have been told about," Willingham said. "When we make an arrest for DUI, we are going to ask those questions. Are we going out and making car stops and asking people to show us your papers? No we are not doing that. We will not do that."

Some immigrants still fear police and fear reporting crime. Willingham says it places them in unnecessary peril.

"But they can't read our language. All they hear is what is going in the rumor mill," Willingham said. "We are trying to do what we can to educate the Hispanic community in Tulsa."

OKLAHOMA CITY -- An expecting teenage mother lost her baby after she and five friends were injured in a drive-by shooting in southeast Oklahoma City over the weekend.

Six teenagers were injured in the shooting at about 11 p.m. Saturday near SE 21 Street and Durland Avenue. The group of friends had just returned from a movie when three gunmen opened fire, police said.

Police arrested three suspects in connection with the shooting. Charges could be filed as early as Monday against Michael Elix, 27; Mantrail Johnson, 27, and Patrick Fleeks, 18.

The expecting mother who was shot is 14 years old. Friends said the girl lost her baby and is in a local hospital recovering.

Another victim was a 14-year-old boy who was shot in the leg. Doctors said he could be on crutches for months or years.

"I still got the metal pieces in here, like the little bitty pieces of the bullet," he said.

The teenager, who did not want to reveal his identity, said the memories of Saturday night are painful.

"I ran to the back and I started limping," he said. "I lifted up my leg and I saw blood everywhere and my friend was in the middle of the street."

i posted this over cauze all six people that were shot were ese's and if u click on the link u'll see they caught the cats that did and all 3 were black..one of the victims, well they hide his face but u can see him showing where he was wounded in the leg..there is something brewing real nasty w/ black gangs and ese's in SOUTH, OKC and i think it has to do w/ alot of mexicans on the south have know moved into and outnumber blacks in all the projects in South,OKC..

i havent gotten a word on what set they were from..in fact every local news station keeps saying it wasnt gang-related..this was in the heart of GBC 23 turf..

A pregnant teenager lost her baby after being shot in a drive-by during the weekend, a police spokesman said.

It was not clear which of the two 14-year-old female victims was pregnant, according to Sgt. Paco Balderrama, but he was able to confirm one girl was pregnant and that she lost her baby.

It will be up to a doctor to determine if the miscarriage was the result of the shooting, Balderrama said. If that is the case, the three suspects arrested in the shooting could face murder charges.

Police released the names of the six teenagers who were shot Saturday night during the drive-by shooting in southeast Oklahoma City. The name of the officer who witnessed the shooting also was released.

Edgar Garcia, 17, Javier Garcia Jr., 15, Ampar Geimausaddle, 14, Valerie Gomez, 14, Marty Lee Maldonado, 16, and Teneroso Rodriguez, 14, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, Balderrama said.

One of three suspects — Michael Elix, 27 — was caught after Sgt. Tom Snyder struck him with his cruiser, Balderrama said. Snyder, a 10-year member of the Oklahoma City Police Department, has been put on paid administrative leave, Balderrama said.

Elix was arrested on seven complaints of assault with a deadly weapon. Montrell Johnson, 27, and Patrick Fleeks, 18, were arrested on six complaints of assault with a deadly weapon.

The shooting occurred about 11 p.m. Saturday at 603 SE 21. Snyder, an Oklahoma City gang patrol officer, was driving through the area when he heard gunshots and witnessed the shooting, Balderrama said.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Prosecutors slapped 30 gang members with racketeering charges as police exposed one of the most violent street gangs in Oklahoma City. With more than 230 members, the Juaritos make up the third largest Hispanic gang in the city.

Police say there are two areas in Oklahoma City that are controlled by the gang. People living in those areas are in terror. They say the gangsters are in complete control, and crime is a daily occurrence.

"The gangbangers have taken over," southeast Oklahoma City resident Jerry Scott said.

Scott has lived in the neighborhood for 37 years. She says it has gotten worse and worse.

"I don't know how to explain it," Scott said. "They're in control. When dark comes, you get in the house."

Scott is talking about the Juaritos. It is a gang with ties to Juarez, Mexico, one of the deadliest cities in the world. They have been terrorizing Oklahoma City neighborhoods since the 1970s.

Police say members of the Juaritos gang have saturated two distinct areas of Oklahoma City. The first is known as the "Top of the Town." It extends from southeast 15th to southeast 25th and South High Avenue to I-35. The second is known as "West Side" from northwest 16th to Main and I-44 to Western.

"I've seen crime just the other day," southeast Oklahoma City resident James Hudson said. "I've seen something go down."

Just down the way from a "Top of the Town" playground near South High Avenue is Juaritos graffiti.

"They did a drive-by … just right down the corner," southeast Oklahoma City resident Carla Rodriguez said. "I have a baby … and I'm scared for him."

People in the gang-infested neighborhoods say the members of the Juaritos have more control over the area than police. Scott says life is getting worse. Her car has been stolen twice in recent months. On Monday, someone siphoned gas out of her truck.
