Street gang members plead guilty to bombing Cranston home
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) June 3,2006
Two members of a street gang plead guilty in federal court to being involved in the bombing of a rival gang member's home last year.
The incident cost a 46-year-old woman her eye.
Prosecutors say 20-year-old Bobby Soundara, of Providence, threw the home-made bomb through the window of a Cranston home belonging to a rival gang member in September.
The target was not at home. But his mother, Tha-Sean Tep, was. She picked up the bomb before it exploded.
Another gang member, 19-year-old Providence resident Vanhhatdy Souvaunaxab admitted to making the pipe bomb and others like it.
Both men belonged to the Laos Pride street gang.
They face a minimum of seven years in prison, and could be sentenced to more than ten.
