City homicide count at 206

A 44-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday in Baltimore, bringing the city’s homicide count for the year to 206. As of the same date last year, the city had experienced 178 murders.

The latest killing occurred at about 2:25 a.m. in the 400 block of South Payson Street.

Police found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the center of the forehead at the rear of an abandoned building, said Det. Donny Moses, a Baltimore City police spokesman. The victim was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Baltimore City police arrest three homicide suspects

Baltimore police in the past week have arrested three suspects in the city’s 206 homicides.

One teen and one adult male are charged in the June 5 shooting death of Tyrone Willie Bonner, 30, in the 1700 block of East 30th Street, police said.

Terrell Bridget, 16, and Marcus Pettiford, 21, each of East 31st Street, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Bridget was being held at the Baltimore City Detention Center on drug charges when police arrested him Aug. 22. Homicide detectives arrested Pettiford on Sunday, said Detective Donny Moses, a Baltimore police spokesman.

On Monday, police also closed the Aug. 18 murder of Ramona Bradley in the 1100 block of Harper Way.

Members of the federal bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms arrested Sandra Milton, 46, at her house in Cumberland and charged her with Bradley’s death, Moses said. – Luke Broadwater
