Ninja wannabes rob Arlington man in North Cambridge

Cambridge -
A pair of bandits wearing ninja masks robbed an Arlington man in North Cambridge, police said.

The 21-year-old victim told police he was walking on the train tracks near the Fresh Pond Mall with a friend he had met on the train about three weeks ago when two men in masks approached them.

The two men walked up to the victim and his new friend May 28 at 6:30 p.m., demanded money and then hit the victim twice in his left ear. The robbers then hit the victim’s friend in the jaw and the victim handed over his cell phone and $80 in cash. The victim’s friend also gave the robbers his cell phone and about $500 in cash.

The two robbers then threatened the pair of friends with a gun if they told anyone, but didn’t brandish a weapon and fled toward 362-364 Rindge Ave., according to police reports.

The victim went home and told police he waited more than two hours to report the crime because the robbery scared and shocked him.

The suspects are described as black men, one of whom was last seen wearing jeans, a dark shirt and a black mask. The other suspect was last seen wearing jeans, a black T-shirt and a ninja mask.
