the outlaw era of NY gangs was basically the late 60's to mid 80's. Gangs of this period mostly repped through gang jackets which were typically cut-off denim jackets similar to old school biker jackets. Some gangs like the Turbans or Dirty Dozen wore old school club jackets. A few gangs from that era are still acive to some degree:
La Familia: Probably the most successful survivor from that era. Still functions as a street gang and is found in several neighborhoods in Bklyn and Queens.
Savage Nomads: became a MC but still does gets grimy and is recognized as a street gang in a few places like Hartford CT.
Connected to Los Solidos, a major CT. street gang.
Savage Skulls: disbanded for a time and came back as a MC.
Devil's Rebels: became MC.
Black Spades: still claimed in some parts of the Bronx. Active in Forida as Black Spades Organization.
Assassinators: became a MC.
Turban Saints/Queens: became a MC.
Phantom Lords: became a MC
Hell Burners: became a MC.
Ching-a-lings: always considered themselves a MC. Became 1%er club and has a chapter in Cali (Porterville CA).
Spanish Kings: active as a street gang until the early 2000's. Has since become a MC.
Imperial Bachelors: extinct but had a role in creating the Imperial Gangsters Nation.
Ghetto Brothers: extincts but had a role in creating Los Solidos of CT.
