Authorities were able to document a little over $5 million in cash and assets belonging to the Rudaj organization. Probably not what they had total but certainly shows they had nowhere near the wealth of an actual New York Mafia family.

Secondly, the police brought down the Rudaj organization, not the Gambino's. It wasn't "standing up to the Gambino's" that caused the FBI to go after them, it was their illegal activity.

correct, but it was their cowboy ways against the gambinos which brought all the added heat which in turn, turned to violence which caused feared amongst some greek criminals who then decided to turn state's evidence against some of the leading members of the group.

so if they never went against the gambinos and lucchese crime families, no telling where rudaj would be right now. he could be free or he could have went to jail even faster. we don't know. it just struck me as funny to see you state no he wouldn't as if god came down and told you what would have happened to rudaj had he taken a different path.

well the thing that put rudaj and some of his group away is the two greeks agreeing to turn state's evidence. they agreed to do so because i believed one of them was threatened by dedaj and the other one was beaten up for his smashing of one of rudaj's machines. i don't remember the precise story and i'm too lazy to look back at the source right now but point is, it was in the heat of the power struggle in astoria that the wiretaps came to be. if rudaj and dedaj could keep their mouths shut around non-albanians instead of trying to show off any chance they got, they would have been home free. so maybe you're right. maybe they would have been in jail by now regardless of what they did to two italian criminal families in the area as it seems their own stupidity (something likely not to have been cured) was the cause of their downfall.
