Kobe v LeBron in 2009 Finals
Will the Lakers meet the Cavs and if so what will happen. I think the Lakers should get through Denver in 6 or 7 and they will meet up with the Cavs who might sweep Orlando.
And I think the Cavs will sweep the Lakers. Maybe the Lakers win game 3 or 4, thats it.

Its going to be tough playing against Denver.
And I think the Cavs will sweep the Lakers. Maybe the Lakers win game 3 or 4, thats it.
The Lakers have dominated the Cavs at home in the past 10 games.
A sweep will be almost impossible considering Kobe Bryant can score 20 with a busted finger and toss 10 + assist against them. That shows how lousy their defense is against the lakers.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas will have much taller players to defend and shoot over in Bynum and Gasoft, unlike the smaller players of the East playoffs.
I don't see any reason why this series isn't a shoe in for 6 games if the Lkaers and Cavs meet up. The Cavs don't play that well in L.A. and because they are playing so flawless right now I think people will quickly forget how much experience the lakers have and that the Lakers play to their opponents capabilities. Given a good opponent, the Lakers play much better than they do against weaker opposition.

Re: Kobe v LeBron in 2009 Finals
those puppet commercials of Lebron & Koby may have jinked them from making the finals. The Nuggets and the Magic will not go aware. Who will derail the Koby Lebron matchup?

Of all people whom you chose, Smith was out of his mind for showing off. These guys are professionals so by now I would think they'd save the celebrations until they advance.$outhPhillypuppet wrote:
Billups had a miserable elimination game and played with zero sense of urgency- as expected. He looked afraid to take the big shot and he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat in game 6. Chauncey had too many turnovers in the two biggest games of the season.
In hindsight, no one derails Kobe from the Finals, so let's focus on LeBron.

i picked that .gif cuz it was the funniest/most entertaining one i could find.
i wasnt gonna put up chauncey hitting freethrows or Hedo bitchass making a shot.
LOL @ Nike banking on a LA vs Cleveland Finals tho.

Re: Kobe v LeBron in 2009 Finals
I think the Lakers would be more successful against the Magic than they would have been against the Clevland, but I bet most experts will pick the Lakers over the Magic, but if Dwight Howards sees that, it might inspire him even more. The Lakers should play all three of their big men, Pau Gasol, Odom, and Bynum down low and get Dwight in foul trouble, and once he is out the game, its a wrap. He is prone to getting three early fouls.

Re: Kobe v LeBron in 2009 Finals
bringing those three inside on Howard would free up Hedo and Rashard Lewis to kill them from outside.alexalonso wrote:The Lakers should play all three of their big men, Pau Gasol, Odom, and Bynum down low and get Dwight in foul trouble
i got it like this
Howard>Bynum-----D-12
Hedo?Gasol-----its a toss up cuz i think gasol will have more problems guarding Hedo then Hedo guarding Gasol.but i can still see gasol getting 20pts 10rebs
Lewis>Odom-----I know Ariza is gonna be in this matchup alot but i think Lewis can wreck him too.
Lee<Bryant-----Kobe
Skip>Fisher----- Fuck Derek Fisher
Laker Bench>Orlando Bench
*imagines JJ gaurding Kobe for just 10 minutes*
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHA
imma pick LA to win it in 6
but i want Orlando to win cuz i got peoples in Saint Petersburg,FL

Re: Kobe v LeBron in 2009 Finals
Once again I think the Lakers will win, but will have problems in doing so.
Playing our big men, Bynum, Gasol, and Odom is good offensively, but defensively its not such a great idea.. those three are terrible inside on defense.. They are all foul prone.. and stand around looking at each other because none of them box out.
If we play inside on Howard, we'll get ate up from the perimiter. The lakers are horrible guarding the perimiter. we need to force them in to mid range shots and we need to attack on offense to try an get thier bigs in foul trouble.
I agree, if we get Howard out, its a wrap. But if we let them shoot 3's all day, then its a wrap for the Lakers.
We need Odom and Gasol to step up... Kobe can get 35-10 easily if our big men play better because it will open up his game big time inside and out.

Re: Kobe v LeBron in 2009 Finals
this is a tough one, but I just realized that the Lakers will have home court. Against Cleveland they would not have got that.
I wonder if Bynum will start and play Howard early. I can see Bynum getting some quick fouls, but they should go right to Bynum on offense and see what Howard will do and get him into the same foul trouble. Hedo and Lewis will probably go 3 point crazy.

Re: Kobe v LeBron in 2009 Finals
Bynum hands are soft, he's too weak.
But as soft and weak as the announcers claim Orlando is they still aren't as soft as some of the Lakers.
The Lakers will pull this off is because Kobe is hungry and no one on Orlando can stop him. Orlando does not have a great defense and Lakers have home court and more experience.
Kobe is a lock to average 30 points and 7 assists against these bums. In fact, he will put up LeBron type numbers just like leBron did in the Eastern Conference finals.
--
People thought Kobe couldn't win a Championship without Shaq, but its his time to prove them wrong and add emphasis to his legacy as one of the best players to ever lace them up.

That guy Petrus on Orlando got Tayshon Prince type defense. We all say Tashon shut Koby down in 2004 finals so i think this will be a good matchup.

Re: Kobe v LeBron in 2009 Finals
Petrius poses no threat to Kobe what so ever. Kobe abused him for four straight season in Golden State.
They are the same size and almost the same weight, Kobe will dog him.
The matchups do however tell a story of a crazy series. Orlando has maybe the best shooting team in the NBA indivually, but when they are off -they are off. When the Lakers are clicking no one can stop them.
Orlando relies on the 3 a bit much... Lakers have to adjust to that and the rest is theirs.
Having home court is big in the grand scheme of things, but it will be interesting to see how these two coaches -coach. They have more say so to the outcome than we do as fans. But I can't see Petrius shutting down kobe. If anything it will help Kobe get 8-10 assist per game because he will be looking to pass this series after realizing how much easier it was for them to win game 5 and 6 of the last series.

@ Orlando making Howard and Gortat jump for rebounds against the WHOLE fuckin laker team.
the whole game i saw 4-5 yellow jerseys in the paint agianst 1 maybe 2 blue jerseys in the paint after a shot.
http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=290604013
look at the offensive rebounds.
fuckin disgusting.
sidenote
sixers need to get gortat in the offseason.

Re: Kobe v LeBron in 2009 Finals
Orlando shot 29.9 %. How much of that is defense and how much of that is just bad shooting. and Koby had the best game of his finals career and he has been there 6 times now.

Re: Kobe v LeBron in 2009 Finals
I would attribute that to bad shooting- when they get to Orlando they will shoot much better and score in the 100's.alexalonso wrote:Orlando shot 29.9 %. However, what kobe did against Orlando should be expected- number one- because I already alluded to the fact that Orlando is NOT a good defensive team and they live and die by the three pointer. Number two, Kobe is Hungry. Too many of his critics said he would NEVER win another championship without Shaq. Add that to the fact that he had no help in last years finals against the Celtics, and everyone trying to give LeBron the title as the best player in the NBA right now- he has something to prove. Third, no one on Orlando can stop him.
And Last, in 6 finals, you have to remember he had a dominant big man in the middle, he had big shot Bob, a younger Derek Fisher to share the ball with, thats in part why he didnt have to score 40. Against the Celtics he had no help, Gasol, Odom, and everyone else dissappeared. They stood around looking lost. But the single most important difference between the Magic and his previous 5 trips to the Finals is DEFENSE! The Pistons and Celtics had top rated defnses, the Magic defense is weak, they rely on offense- trying to outshoot/outscore their opponents.
