Controversial Tyson to Announce Latest Comeback Fight
Former Heavyweight Champ Will Face Journeyman McBride on June 11
By HOWARD FENDRICH, AP Sports

WASHINGTON (April 11) - Mike Tyson is returning to the ring.

In his last fight, Mike Tyson suffered a fourth-round knockout loss to Danny Williams.

The former heavyweight champion will fight for the first time in nearly a year, facing journeyman Kevin McBride on June 11 at Washington's MCI Center, a boxing source told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Monday.

Tyson and promoter Marty Wynn planned to announce the bout at a news conference Tuesday, the source said.

Tyson's manager, Shelly Finkel, did not immediately return a phone message left at his office Monday evening.

The 38-year-old Tyson is 50-5 with two no contests and 44 knockouts. He lost two of his last three fights.

In his most recent outing, in Louisville on July 30, he was stopped in the fourth round by Danny Williams after tearing cartilage in his left knee.

That was Tyson's first fight in 17 months - and his first loss in a non-title bout. He's entered the ring just once a year since 2001, earning a technical knockout victory over Brian Nielsen in October of that year, getting knocked out by Lennox Lewis in June 2002, and knocking out Clifford Etienne in February 2003.
champion ever when he knocked out Trevor Berbick at the age of 20 in 1986.

McBride, 31, defeated Kevin Montiy by technical knockout on March 18 in his last fight. Born in Ireland and now based in Massachusetts, the 6-foot-6 McBride is 32-4-1 with 27 knockouts.

I truly believe that Tyson WAS the best boxer to ever live. After signing with King though, he let his training slide and it all started going downhill. I don't think he has what it takes anymore to beat anybody but no names. Mike's flat broke. I remember reading that overall he's spent more than $400 million.

why did Big Mike sell his house to 50 for 3 million?
i think he did this because 50 got a tax break and 50 gave him alot more money on the side to help pay off his debt.

Yeah so. Join the club. That freak could knock out most people including you're monkey ass. And, I would not waste a penny to watch that circus. Even though, I actually like the guy he seems like a cool dude but he is still a joke.

Mike Tyson is done he will never be what he was 20 years ago. He hasn't even beat anybody good Lennox Lewis kicked his ass and so did Evander the bums he faces now are a joke just like him. Any descent boxer would mop the floor with Tyson.

You notice Mike will spit nonsensical crazy shit and then drop a serious gem on that ass? Some of the shit he says is straight genius.

When Lennox Lewis beat him that shit ruined my whole night. Better fighter? Aight maybe Lennox had some reach and some discipline on Mike, but as the for being the Truth only Mike could be that.

It's over Mike is done the only reason he is fighting is because he owes millions. Mike is a real motherfucker when you talk to him you aint getting lies that's for sure that's what, I respect about him but he is still done. He will never recapture his glory days when he was in his 20's.

Mike lost his last fight because he refused to go in for knee surgery or he would have had to forfeit and during his whole career hes only forfeited 1 fight due to an eye injury- even though hes been in a recent slump Mike is still one of the greatest of his generation---that upper cut thrown agains Tyrell Biggs was the best punch I have ever seen dropped in any fight since ever B. my niggas shows the sicence of small man fighting second to none. nobody of that height and size could fight like him PERIOD

Mike Tyson never even beat a descent fighter all the good boxers he went up against him kicked his ass. If he would ever fought Ali and Foreman in their prime he would of stood no chance. And the only reason he is one of the greatest of his generation is because the lack of great boxers.

I don't know I think he had more rageful force and raw power than either one of those fighters. I think he would have knocked foreman out. Ali could not have baited Mike like that rope-a-doping. He's too ferocious and would have ended up breaking Ali down, MAYBE... key word maybe. I think Ali and Foreman are better fighters, but sports change.
