Well the CIA had a big part in putting the late SHa in power, then we sunk a hell lot of their Torpedo/Patrol boats during the Iran-Iraq war when the Persian Gulf was heavely mined and out fleet had to protect oil tankers, not to mention WWII when the British and Us had to go in there to keep the Soviets from coming in and setting up shop.

So I would say, "NO" Iran is the incorrect answer.

America intervened in China during the Boxer Rebellion sending some 2,500 troops to take part in a larger multi-national force composed of British, French, Russian, Japanese, and Germans. Crushing harshly the rebellion of Chinese Nationalists.
The Americans also fought Red China in the Korean War when Chinese forcers poured across the Yalu River in support of retreating North Korean forces. That war lasted 3 years.
Red China also supported North Vietnam in its struggle versus America, not only did they supply large amounts of weapons but they also supplied instructors and pilots, eventually those were pulled out when the Soviet Union took up the main supportive role to the Vietnamese.

So negative, China is not the correct answer.

During the colonial era, we fought the French Canadians as well as their Indian allies, then there was the French and Indian War 1754-1748 which wal also known in Europe as the Seven Years War, but for Americans is was mostly fought in the backwoods of the Ohio Valley.
Then when Canada passed on to become part of the British Empire, Americans during the revolution invaded Canada and were repelled by the British, the same re-occurred during the second war of Independence, better known as the war of 1812.

So I would say negative on Canada - it is the wrong answer.

You must however agree that either direct or indirect armed conflict between the United States and the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) during the Great War took place in both Arabia (Jordan/Saudi Arabia), which since then the Saudi family has been supported by the U.S. after having obtained their independence from the Ottoman Turks after the war.
You also had the Allied front composed of Italians, Serbians and Greeks, supported by the British, and U.S. war material at the battlefront against Bulgarian & Turkish forces in the Balkans, Macedonia to be more precise about it, this led to the surrender of Bulgaria in 1918 whom was the first to drop out of the Central Powers alliance.
While the American forces were predominantly fighting in France & Belgium, the fact remains that "WE WERE AT WAR WITH TURKEY" and we aliviated and released the burden from other Nations fighting the Germans, so that they could concentrate more on the Turks.

In my opinion, since we did have armed conflict with Turkey during WWI, I would say Turkey is the wrong answer.

Turkey was an opponent of ours in WWI and we had a declared war between us.

France we have fought before the revolutionary war, and after the independance war, in fact it was France whom we should of fouth the WAR of 1812 instead of the British. Nevertheless WE HAVE FOUGHT THE FRENCH.

The Laos civil war was tied to the conflict being fought next door in Vietnam.

With North Vietnamese help, the Pathet Lao (Laotian Communist Rebels) were increasingly successful. They took over the strategic Plain of Jars and large portions of the countryside, leaving only the Mekong valley and the two capitals (Luang Prabang and Vientiane) firmly in Government hands.

North Vietnam constructed a network of jungle paths in the east, known as the Ho Chi Minh Trail, and they became the main supply line for communist forces in South Vietnam.

On the government side, Thai mercenaries & Hmong tribesmen, "trained and financed by the US, were involved in the fighting". "American planes flew bombing missions over Pathet Lao territory daily".

In 1971 South Vietnam supported by U.S. forces, made an unsuccessful invasion to cut the Ho Chi Minh Trail. By this time all sides were tired of a conflict that went on and on, with no clear victory in sight for anybody. A cease-fire was signed in the fall of 1973, and one more coalition government was established in Laos.
