for reals Deutschman, nah man, everybody thinks PR is its own country but they're not, they're a Commonwealth of the United States (US territory), they are politically internally autonomous, but otherwise, Washington rules. They just recently voted to go forward and maybe become the 51st US state, but we'll see.

No, Puerto Rico is not a nation, because the US claimed ownership of the island after the 1898 Spanish-American War, so at the time of the war, Puerto Rico was under rule from Spain, and when the US took over, they never gave P.R. independence, there for it is actually one of the few colonial lands left in the world. The US likes to used the word "commonwealth" which is the same as colony.
