I hate when girls are all tatted up with sleeves and shit. I don't want some metal head, punker girl. Just settle for a nice tatto at the base of your back, your ankle, or back of your neck. The nastiest tattos on a girl I have seen were those big black ass tribal tats. Fuck that shit.

hey 88reasonswhy, you sound like you know a lot about tattoos. I have a question, I know that in the asian culture a tiger means you are a good fighter and that the gold fish represents good luck but what about the dragon? What does a dragon means?

Ill take 3 guesses before 88reasonswhy posts the answer.

Dragon means wisdom and knowledge.

Dragon means power and authority.

Dragon means beauty and populairty.

Ah maybe one of them, maybe not.

Lets see.....

that sounds about right.. all I know about the asian dragon is what I have read in Chinese astrology... and those are all characteristics of Dragon. except maybe popularity.. but then I base that on elf knowledge, and being that i ma under the sign of wood dragon, I have paid more attention to dragon than most chinese astrology

Dragons in chinese culture stands for any number of things. Sometimes a dragon stands for the ruler of rain and weather. It usually can symbolize power and excellence, valiancy and boldness, heroism and perseverance, nobility and divinity. The Dragon in the chinese calendar is associated with and known to be idealists, perfectionists, and born thinking they are perfect and inflexible. A tribal dragon tattoo usually means you've seen too much flash art and lack any sort of imagination. :P

Most people just have a fascination with chinese stylized animals when it comes to tattoo's, or that happens to be their chinese calendar animal. Just for the record, it's a Koi fish, not a Goldfish. Though they are extremely similar, and are from the same family, but if you're into tattoo's you wouldn't walk into a studio and ask for "A goldfish" or you'd walk out with a really dumb looking tattoo. But you're right, they stand for good luck. :)

A teardrop on my shoulder, a star on my hip and a pair of black cherries on the back of my neck. I think some girls look good with sleeves and heavier tattooing but it's not something I'd have done to me, to OTT for me.

Getting a Koi fish tattoo means to over come the odds, the reason it has this meaning is becasue the Koi swims up stream.

I've never heard of that meaning behind a Koi fish. As far as the Japanese are concerned, Koi fish are considered lucky, likewise tattoo's of them.

That is the Japanese meaning, the koi swims against the current therfore it overcomes the odds.

I've read that in Chinese mythology they swim upstream and leap off waterfalls to become Water Dragons, thus becoming symbols of strength and over coming adversity. Anything Japanese I've read they're symbols of luck, and sometimes courage.

Your right about them becoming Dragons if they are male fish, if they are female fish they become a Phoenix. The Chinese mythology had alot of influence on Japanese culture, they are very similar.

My son and I are planning on getting each others initials in Russian. Somewhere discreet of course for job purposes.

We are Russian and German decent, but we embrace our Russian heritage mostly. My grandfather came into Canada from Russia when he was just a boy so we have alot of history, family stories. On the German side, well they came over several generations ago so we just don't know as much about it. Also it will be indirectly honoring my grandfather by getting them in Russian.

Check my web page & go to pic's:

1)The piece entitled "Choices" will be going in the open space on my back (i.e. in between the "MARK 10:9," & the gun holster).

2)The piece entitled "Divine Order" will be made into a half-sleeve on my left arm.

3)"Death, Rather Than Dishonor" will be tat'ed in a slight arch on the top of my chest (i.e. the way them Ese's be doing it  )

That will give me 10 tat's & HOPEFULLY I'll be satisfied & STOP!! All of my tat's are pretty large pieces that damn near cover my whole torso; but I think it's more "attractive" to have spaces in between each piece.

Oh yeah, I forgot  I got to put some script under my wife's face on my back. I have "H.N.I.C." tat'ed over my "face," so I figured I should get a "description" of her wrote out also. I was going to go with' "My Rib" (i.e. Adam giving of himself so God could create Eve); but, I don't want the letter "b" tat'ed on me!
