These are based on what i think have the highest rate not the highest numberNW10 wrote:1.Rape: South Africa

Using the highest number is unrealistic because siz is relative.
For example USA has around 16000 murders and Jamaica has around 900 per year.
But in terms of homicides per head of population
Jamaica has 33.3 per 100,000
USA has 5.6 per 100,000

Total crimes per capita is not reliable because countries count different types of crime, some will include minor offences whereas other may only have recorded serious offences.
Those figures are also very dated.
There are also problems in recording of crime, eg simple or common assault could be something as trivial as being given a black eye. In some places this could be recorded whereas in others people wouldnt even bother involving the police.
Like if your neighbour assaulted you and gave you a black eye and you were in the suburbs you may decide to phone the police.
In a tough inner city neighbourhood are you gonna do the same and risk another beating and a label as a snitch? i dont think so
In England we have what is known as recorded crime (crime recorded to police) and the British Crime Survey which is seen as a much more accurate indicator of crime.
In comparison of the two:
violent recorded crime is 19.2 per 1000 and BCS violence is 48.1 per 1000
domestic burglary is recorded at 7.7 per 1000 and BCS at 19.2 per 1000
In a western society we only record around 50% of crimes but in the third world what percentage of crime do you think gets reported in relation to what goes un-noticed?
Most likely a lot less than 50% is recorded

Your using figures off Nationmaster i think. And those arent the latest figures.
Most places have annual figures. Westernised countries certainaly do, England and USA 2004 figures are easily available online, there no secret the English Home Office and FBI publish reports on crime every year.

Who's a minority when they are in their own country?
Half the worlds population is Chinese and Indian so you could say most of us are minorities. Most people live in and are Asian.
What exactly do you mean?

minorities though in most countries commit more crimes than the average population no? so the argument holds valid. And minorities from western first world countries that run other countries commit more crimes than whites in the same poverty category or not? Im just wonderin. I mean you cant compare any european country to africa but you can compare some to Latin America or the middle east for example. Albenia and Georgia for example.
