A man was shot dead outside a nightclub with a Uzi-style weapon in a 'postcode' gang war. Barrington Williams-Samuels, 19, died as he tried to protect a woman when two gunmen opened fire on his car outside the Pavillion club in Clapton, Hackney. The car was riddled by 15 gunshots - the woman was unhurt and another male passenger was shot in the leg. Rival groups are fighting over territory and taking the names of the postcodes where they come from in Hackney, North-East london
This is the first time that these so called postcode murders have been reported in a London wide newspaper, usually they remain between the pages of the local rag, the Hackney Gazette. The postcodes represent different outfits from those areas, i.e. E9 could represent various groups such as Kingsmead Boys or E5 could represent Mothers Square Boys or Springfield Crew, E8 could represent Holly Street or Fields/Haggerston Combined. Its confusing and crazy, but outfits are being represented by their postcodes alongside their area crews, Local grafitti reads things like 'E9 Bang Bang' - looks innocent, but means 'we're armed, don't mess'.

A MAN shot dead outside a nightclub was killed with an Uzi-style machinegun in a "postcode" gang war.
Barrington Williams-Samuels, 19, died as he tried to protect a woman when at least two gunmen opened fire on his 4x4 car in Clapton in what is said to be a turf war between gangs from different postcodes.
Mr Williams-Samuels, a barman, was shot in the head and chest after throwing himself across a 21-year-old woman sitting next to him. She was unhurt. A 19-year-old male friend in the back seat of the Vauxhall Frontera was shot in the leg and is today recovering in hospital under armed police guard.
Police believe one of the gunmen was armed with a powerful sub-machinegun.
The car was riddled with at least 15 bullets and other cars outside the Palace Pavilion club were also hit.
Today Mr Williams-Samuels' mother Beverley said: "This is a territory gang war. It involves gangs from certain areas such as E5 or E9. It's a postcode war. They are east London gangs who just want to destroy and kill their own people.
"My son was not involved in any trouble - he was a good kid who worked for a living. He was a fun-loving guy who loved to party. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Her son and two friends had gone to the nightclub at about 6.15am on Monday but found it closed.
Mr Williams-Samuels and the other 19-year-old had returned to their car when two men walked up to it and began firing. The woman in the front threw herself to the floor and Mr Williams-Samuels was hit in the head as leaned over her.
Detectives from Operation Trident, which investigates gang murders in the black community, said Mr Williams-Samuels was not well known to them and they were investigating whether the shooting was part of a turf war.
Police are appealing for witnesses from among the dozens of people who were in Lower Clapton Street as the nightclub closed.

Gunmen who killed a teenager with an automatic weapon could have caused carnage when they opened fire on an east London street packed with partygoers, a senior police officer said yesterday.
Two men shot Barrington Williams-Samuels, a 19-year-old barman, as he sat in the driver's seat of his 4x4 vehicle outside a nightclub in Hackney in the early hours of Monday morning.
He was hit in the head and chest and died shielding the 21-year-old woman sitting next to him. She was not hurt but a 19-year-old man in the back of the car was shot in the leg. He is in hospital under armed police guard.
Mr Williams-Samuels was known to police and officers are trying to establish whether his murder was gang-related.
Detective Inspector Paul Gapper from Scotland Yard's Trident unit, which investigates gun crime within the black community, said ballistics experts were carrying out tests to establish the make of guns used. But he said at least one was an automatic weapon.
"We don't know yet exactly what kind of weapon, but it could have been a submachine gun. There were about 15 shots. One went into the bonnet of a bystander's car, another hit a nearby building."
Mr Williams-Samuels and his two friends had arrived at Palace Pavilion nightclub in Lower Clapton Road at 6.15am on Monday morning to find it had just closed. But Det Insp Gapper said there would still have been at least 100 people milling about in the street at the time.
"My biggest worry is that you've got people with total disregard for human life running around using weapons like this on the high street. Any number of people could have been shot."
An 18-month-old girl was wounded and a four-year-old boy narrowly escaped injury in a similar incident a year ago, less than half a mile from where Mr Williams-Samuels was killed. Police are concerned London gangs are using more powerful weapons, including Mac 10 submachine guns and Uzis.
Mr Williams-Samuels' mother, Beverley, said her son was the victim of a "post-code gang war. This is a territory gang war, involving gangs from certain areas, such as E5 or E9", she told the London Evening Standard. "It's a postcode war."
But she added: "My son was not involved in any trouble. He was a fun-loving guy who loved to party. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Police are looking for the occupants of three cars, a black Audi A3, a silver Range Rover and a black 4x4, who may have witnessed the crime.
They appealed to anyone with information to contact Trident, and promised confidentiality. "Someone must know where this gun came from," Det Insp Gapper said. "I would say to them if you saw the state of the mother of this 19-year-old man you would understand why you have to come forward."
