Gang member sentenced for drive-by
YAKIMA — An admitted gang member was sentenced to three years in prison Thursday for his role in a drive-by shooting last year.
Jimmy D. Campos, 20, earlier had pleaded guilty in Yakima County Superior Court to a felony charge of drive-by shooting in connection with an incident Oct. 6 in the 400 block of South Ninth Street.
Prosecutors said several shots were fired from a car at gang members standing in front of a house. No one was injured.
Campos, aka "Bird," was identified by authorities as the driver of the car.
The alleged shooter, 17-year-old Jose Efren Silva, pleaded guilty last month to a related car-theft charge and was sentenced to 60 days in jail.
