0Third man hurt in city shootings

The first shooting happened in Altcross Road, Croxteth
A man has been taken to hospital after being injured in the third shooting in Liverpool in four days.
The 26-year-old man was shot in his lower back and leg in Holmrook Road, Norris Green, early on Monday.

On Friday night, a 23-year-old man was shot twice in Altcross Road, Croxteth, while a 32-year-old man was shot in the stomach in Walton Park on Sunday.

Merseyside Police said patrols had been stepped up but none of the victims had yet cooperated with detectives.

Officers believe the first two incidents may have gangland links, but are not linking the latest shooting to the previous two.

Gun discovered

The first victim was shot at about 2030 GMT on Friday outside Croxteth Sports Centre following an argument.

Following the second shooting, which happened at about 0400 GMT on Sunday, police recovered a rucksack containing a gun, ammunition and drugs from a nearby garden.

None of the victims are thought to have life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives.
