It was major and still plays apart in the difficulties blacks face today, that is why it will not be gotten over because there was no closure for slavery. If Jim Crow hadn't come, and lynchings, and city burnings, and murders, rapes, ghettos, bad schools, assasination of vocal black leaders, medical experiments, drugs in the community helped by the CIA, and the countless other atrocities that followed slavery.
that's why i saw how can we forget? look at all the shit that happened after slavery. good post!

You really cannot say this(well you can but..) unless you've held court with all the successful Black people. First off, success is relative to one's
own idea of success. Secondly, there is a wealth of successful Black folk who rail against this flawed, uneven, and inherently racist American "democracy". Thirdly, I'm successful(quite successful might I add) and while I dont feel Whites are inherently evil, I believe many of them blindly support this flawed system. Alas, many of those successful Blacks you mention sold their souls for the riches and prestige so why would the affects of slavery even matter to them?? Uncle Tom lives!!

well the flawed system doesnt come from slavery..... i think the civil rights movements are the reason why the system has been flawed
