Question: there was a lady hooked up with Prince who made a cut called "Sugar Walls". That stuff was hot...but I forget her name.

Who is she?

Ha,Ha, Ha....Nah homie we may not be that different. See luckily I never made it to the state level, so I never experienced the hatred that alot of people go through when they are put in that situation. Actually it wasn't until I went to camp that I had the experiance to chill with any "blacks". Meet some idotic ones and meet some real cool ones. The same can be said for all hoods and races in the system. My bunkie was from OG Front Hood. Coolest lil homie you could ever meet. The thing I took away from the camp experiance was that I learned when its all said and done we all people struggling with diferent problems trying to make it in life. Anyways, yeah I know those cuts you named. Im big on oldies and slow jams. I have a pretty nice collection. See if you can come up with some rare ones you can recommend. One of my favorites I forgot to add to the list is Roy Ayers "Everybody Loves the Sunshine"...download it and bump it

1) I give a shout out to "Full Force"...later they appeared in the Kid n' Play movies...very funny...but very talented...

2) Also, there is a cut "Controversy" by Prince. To me this is one of his best cuts that came out. (I think Prince had a cut called "Head" that was real big even before "Controversy"...)

3) Ya'll left out "Bell, Biv, Devoe"...who can forget "Do Me Baby"...and all of the good Michael Bivens did...he found "Boyz 2 Men"

4) Tina Turner with "Private Dancer" and "What's Love Got To Do With It".

5) Patti Labelle with Michael McDonald "On My Own"

As for rhythms in spanish:

1) Los Bukis
2) Tigres del Norte
3) Ana Gabriel "En Vivo" and her songs "Destino" and "Simplemente Amigos" I saw her in concert in LA back in 1993. Check her out...she's from the state of Sinaloa and reminds me of Aretha..but with a husky voice...

Peace out ya'll...I'm reading and learning a lot these days...

I left out two singers that fell on hard times:

Whitney Houston.
When whitney 1st came out people though she was the best singer in r and b and she had a christian background. Then she hooked up with bobby brown, and it seems like she's never been the same. I give respect to Whitney.

Mariah Carey
mariah's voice caught everybody's attention...but then she left her husband and put alot of rappers in her videos...she stopped emphasizing her powerful voice and her gift for ballads...instead of doing duets with let's say barbra streisand...mariah focused too much on her image. I also respect her and hope she gets back...i think she needs an album of traditional ballads to get back to the top...no more "rap cameos" mariah...display that voice

whitney have a dope voice but i don't like most of the shiiit she did ,its kinna soulesss and for large audience i never liked her traccs but have to admit her voice is deep and she's a fine lookin' women ...
maria carey well i will say the same kind of judgement ...they not my type of singer and carreys voice is ok but she always use a bit too much of the same tricks always the same mellodies and style so you easely get borred ,no they far from being close to aproache my top list of singers

casp...i agree on whitney and mariah...both are crossover singers...whitney is at her best with gospel...they watered down their style to appeal to "mainstream" audiences...

the real deal:

dizzy giliespie
lena horn
billie holiday
cap calloway (my grandma's favorite0

I'm gonna get "attacked" for sayin' this...but that singer "Pink" uses more soul in her song than Whitney usually does. Think about that song 'how will i know' by whitney...it's just pop...now think about ANY of "Pink's" songs. Even Christina Aguilera in "Genie in a Bottle" or Britney in "Hit me baby one more time"...these songs contain more "soul" than whitney in "how will i know". I think it's cuz whitney felt the need to "water" her music to get radio-spins. Christina/Britney/Pink can "act like randb/gospel/soul singers" and still sell millions on pop radio....by the way...each one of them dances better than whitney and mariah...i would even go further to say that "nsync' and "backstreet boys" perpetrate a soul/randb/doowap style..."nsyc's" song 'bye bye bye' got more soul than mariah/whitney...download it and listen BEFORE you attack me...listen to that "soul" rift and the "hip-hop' beats in the background.

be honest...

I waskickin' it at work when an old song "ring my bell" by donna summer came on the radio...i think she definitely qualifies as an rnb singer...she had some cool/light hits that picked up the mood...
